CC RESOLUTION 29651 RESOLUTION NO. 29r,c� • A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, APRIL 8, 1980, AS REQUIRED BY THE PROVISIONS OF THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA RELATING TO GENERAL LAW CITIES AND FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF SAID CITY OF A QUESTION RELATING TO THE CITY CLERK AND CITY TREASURER. WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election on April 8, 1980 for the election of Members of the City Council, a City Clerk, a City Treasurer, and a Member of the Governing Board of the El Segundo Unified School District, and a measure has been heretofore called by Resolutions No. 2959, 2962,and 2963 adopted on January 2, 1980 and January 15, 1980, respectively; and WHEREAS, a petition has been filed with the Legislative Body of the City of E1 Segundo signed by more than ten percent of the qualified regis- tered voters of said City submitting a measure relating to the City Clerk and City Treasurer; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk of said City has duly examined and from the records of registration has ascertained that the petition is signed by the required number of voters and has so certified; and WHEREAS, the City Council of said City is thereupon authorized and directed to submit the measure to the qualified voters; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA„ DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That said City Council does hereby determine that there shall be and there is hereby ordered submitted to the qualified electors of said City at said General Municipal Election the following question, to wit: 0 r� ADVISORY VOTE ONLY. , YES PROPOSITION NO. 2. Shall the City Clerk and City Treasurer re- : main, as they were or intended to be, independent, full, : time, elected officials,, responsible to the electorate, and be NO compensated accordingly? A cross (4) placed in the voting square after the word "YES" in the . manner here_i_nbefore provided shall be counted in favor of the adoption of the question. A cross (-k) placed in the voting square after the word "NO" in the manner here_i:nbefore provided shall be counted against the adoption of the ques- tion, SECTION 3. That the ballots to be used at said election shall be, both as to form and matter contained therein, such as may be required by law to be used be used thereat. SECTION 4. That the City Clerk of said City is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to procure and furnish any and all official ballots, notices, printed matter and all supplies, equipment and paraphernalia that may be necessary in order to properly and lawfully conduct said election. SECTION 5. That the polls for said election shall be open at seven o'clock a.m. of the day of said election and shall remain open continu- ously from said time until eight o'clock p.m. of the same day when said polls shall be closed, except as provided in Section 14301 of the Elections Code of the State of California. SECTION 6, That in all particulars not recited in this Resolution, said election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding muni- cipal elections in said City. SECTION 7. That notice of the time and place of holding said election is hereby given and the City Clerk is hereby authorized, instructed • and directed to give such further or additional notice of said election, in time, form and manner as required by law. SECTION 8. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original Reso- lutions of said City; and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption there- 9 of in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
