A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING CHAPTER 1A4, FIRE SAFETY SERVICE SERIES, OF TITLE 1A OF THE EL SEGUNDO ADMINISTRATIVE CODE. • � ,r1 u. r THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, • DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Sections 1A4.010, 1A4.020, 1A4.025, 1A4.026 and 1A4.036 of Chapter 1A4 of Title 1A of the El Segundo Administra- tive Code, adopted by Resolution No. 2620, as amended, are hereby rescinded. SECTION 2. Sections 1A4.010, 1A4.020, 1A4.032, 1A4.036 and 1A4.038 are added to Chapter 1A4 of the El Segundo Administra- tive Code to read as follows: SECTION 1A4.010 BASIC SALARY SCHEDULE. SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT. Fire Fighters I and II temporarily assigned as Inspector or to other special assignments which may be approved by the City Manager from time to time, shall be compensated at a range and step equal to thirteen percent above the range and step of the classification to which they are entitled by length of service and performance. SECTION 1A4.036 FIRE FIGHTER I­COMPENSATION­PROBA�� TIONARY PERIOD COMMENCES. Fire Trainees who have qualified for the position of Fire Fighter I shall be compensated at ninety percent of Step A of the range assigned to Fire Fighter II as set forth in the Basic Salary Schedule. Upon satisfactory completion of the probationary period and twelve months' service as Fire Fighter I, the employee shall be automatically advanced to the class of Fire Fighter II. SECTION 1A4.038 FIRE TRAINEE--COMPENSATION. For the first six months from the date of hire, fire service employees shall be appointed to the position of Fire Trainee and shall be compensated at the rate of seventy percent of Step A of the range assigned to Fire Fighter II in the Basic Salary Schedule. Fire Trainees shall be on probation during the entire period of their Fire Trainee service. Fire Trainees who satisfactorily complete six months of service as Fire Trainees shall automatically be appointed as Fire Fighter I on the first day following the comple- tion of six months' service as Fire Trainee and shall commence a probationary period pursuant to Chapter 2.28 of the El Segundo Municipal Code as Fire Fighter I on that date. - 3 - • SECTION 3. Sections 1A4.030, 1A4.035, 1A4.045 and 1A4.050 of Chapter 1A4 of Title 1A of the El Segundo Administrative Code adopted by Resolution No. 2620, as amended, are amended to read as follows: SECTION 1A4.030 SCHEDULE OF CLASSES BY SERIES. That the following respective range numbers or hourly rates are hereby allocated and assigned to the following respective offices, posi- tions, or employments in the service of said City, hereinafter set forth: POSITIONS RANGE NO. Fire Captain 509 Fire Engineer 496 Fire Fighter 11 483 Fire Fighter I Pursuant to Sec. 1A4.036 Fire Trainee Pursuant to Sec. 1A4.038 SECTION 1A4.035 SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT--PARAMEDIC. Fire Fighters I and Fire Fighters II assigned to paramedic training level or paramedic service shall receive an additional salary over and above their current range and step in the classification to which they are entitled by length of service and performance as follows: 1. While assigned to the trainee level, five percent; 2. During their first year of paramedic service, eight percent; 3. During their second year of paramedic service, ten percent; 4. After two years of paramedic service, thirteen per- cent. • SECTION 1A4.045 EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE PAY PROGRAM-- EXCEPTION. Members of the fire service enumerated in Section 1A4.030 of this Chapter shall not be eligible to participate in the Educational Incentive Pay Program, except that any employee in the 4 • following classifications: Fire Captain; Fire Engineer; Fire Fighter; shall remain eligible to participate in the Educational Incentive Pay Program provided that they were appointed to the class of Fire Fighter as it then existed on or before July 5, 1975. SECTION 1A4.050 EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE PAY--ADMINISTRA- TION. The Educational Incentive Pay Program for employees in the fire service shall be administered in accordance with the "Fire Department Educational Incentive Pay Program" effective on January 1, 1972, a copy of which is on file in the Office of the City Clerk. SECTION 4. All resolutions and orders of the City Coun- cil heretofore passed and adopted with reference to the same, or any of the matters and subjects hereinabove set forth or referred to, are hereby rescinded insofar as the same conflict with the provisions hereof. SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original resolutions of said city; and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said city, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
