A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTIONS
1A5.010, 1A5.020, 1A5.030 AND 1A5.050 OF, AND
ADDING SECTIONS 1A5.045 AND 1A5.212 TO, CHAP-
TER 1A5 (POLICE SAFETY SERVICE SERIES) OF TITLE
lA OF THE EL SEGUNDO ADMINISTRATIVE CODE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA,
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Sections 1A5.010, 1A5.020, 1A5.030 and
1A5.050 of Chapter 1A5 of Title lA of the E1 Segundo Administrative
Code adopted by Resolution No. 2620, as amended, are amended to
read as follows:
SECTION 1A5.010 BASIC SALARY SCHEDULE. That except as
hereinafter specifically provided and subject to the other provi-
sions of this resolution, each employee in the Police Service
enumerated in this Chapter other than those participating in the
Educational Incentive Pay Program shall be entitled to receive for
his or her services in his or her position the applicable rate of
compensation shown in the following basic salary schedule pre-
scribed for the class in which his or her position is allocated, for
the period commencing June 30, 1979, to wit:

SECTION 1A5.050 MOTORCYCLE HAZARD PAY. All members of
the Police Service assigned to motorcycle duty shall be compensated
• by an additional payment equal. to seven percent of the "E" Step of
the Police Officer classification while serving in such capacity,
except whenever any affected employee has been absent because of a
disability resulting from an illness or injury occurring outside of
the course and scope of his, /her employment for a period of 30

SECTION 1A5.050 MOTORCYCLE HAZARD PAY. All members of

consecutive calendar days, the city may, commencing the 31st con-
secutive day of such absence„ terminate any hazard pay bonus to
which the employee would have been entitled had he been performing
his regular duties.
SECTION 2. Sections 1A5.045 and 1A5.212 are added to
Chapter 1A5 of Title lA of said El Segundo Administrative Code to
read as follows:
SECTION 1A5.045 POLICE OFFICER -- DETECTIVE -- SPECIAL
ASSIGNMENT. Police Officers temporarily assigned as Detectives or
to other special assignments which may be approved by the City
Manager from time to time, shall be compensated at a range and step
equal to five percent above the range and step of the Police Officer
classification to which they are entitled by length of service and
performance.
SECTION 1A5.212 INSURANCE BENEFITS. A. Medical. All
sworn personnel of the police service enumerated in this Chapter
shall receive a total of $95.00 per month for health and medical
insurance under the existing group plan for the employee and one
dependent effective the first payroll date after July 1, 1979 in
which medical and dental insurance deductions are drawn.
B. Dental. All sworn personnel of the police service
enumerated in this Chapter shall receive a total of $14.36 per
month for dental insurance for the employee only effective the
first payroll date after July 1, 1979 in which medical and dental
insurance deductions are drawn.
C. Medical. Should the employee only dental plan cost
be less than $14.36 per month the difference between the actual
employee only cost and $14.36 may be applied toward the payment of
the medical insurance premium.
SECTION 3. All resolutions and orders of the City
Council heretofore passed and adopted with reference to the same,
or any of the matters and subjects hereinabove set forth or

referred to, are hereby rescinded insofar as the same conflict with
the provisions hereof.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in the book of
original resolutions of said city; and shall make a minute of the
passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of
the City Council of said city, in the minutes of the meeting at
which the same is passed and adopted.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 7th day of
August 7 , 1979.
