A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTIONS
1A4.010, 1A4.020 AND 1A4.035 OF, AND ADDING
SECTIONS 1A4.025, 1A4.026 AND 1A4.145 TO, CHAP-
TER lA4 (FIRE SAFETY SERVICE SERIES) OF TITLE
lA OF THE EL SEGUNDO ADMINISTRATIVE CODE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA,
• DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Sections 1A4.010, 1A4.020, and 1A4.035 of
Chapter lA4 of Title lA of the El Segundo Administrative Code
adopted by Resolution No. 2620, as amended, are amended to read as
follows:
SECTION 1A4.010 BASIC: SALARY SCHEDULE. That except
as hereinafter specifically provided and subject to the
other provisions of this resolution, each employee in the
fire service enumerated in this Chapter, other than those
participating in the Educational Incentive Pay Program
shall be entitled to receive for his or her services in
his or her position.the applicable rate of compensation
shown in the following basic salary schedules prescribed
for the class in which his or her position is allocated,
for the period commencing March 24, 1979 and ending June
29, 1979, to wit:

SECTION 1A4.020 EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE PAY SALARY
SCHEDULES. (A) Commencing March 24, 1979 and ending
June 29, 1979 uniformed members of the fire service enu-
merated in this Chapter, who have obtained a Fire Science

• Certificate or successfully completed twenty units of
college level courses in Fire Science shall upon comple-
tion of the initial probationary period be compensated
for their services at the grade and step to which they
are entitled by classification and length of service, in
accordance with the following salary schedule:
. FIRE SCIENCE CERTIFICATE OR 20 COLLEGE UNITS
IN FIRE SCIENCE (3%) SALARY SCHEDULE
(B) Commencing March 24, 1979 and ending June 29,
1979 uniformed members of the fire service enumerated in
this Chapter, who have obtained an Associate of Arts
Degree with at least twenty units in Fire Science shall
upon completion of three and one -half years' service be
compensated for their services at the grade and step to
which they are entitled by classification and length of
service in accordance with the following salary schedule: -

SECTION 1A4.035 FIRE FIGHTER - SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT
PARAMEDIC. Fire Fighters assigned to Paramedic Training
Level shall receive an additional five percent of their
current step in the appropriate salary range.
Fire Fighters assigned to paramedic duty who have
completed their training and have been certified as a
Paramedic by the County of Los Angeles shall, in addition.
to their current step in the appropriate salary range,
receive pay depending upon their years of service as a
Paramedic in accordance with the following:
1. First year of paramedic service, eight per-
cent additional ;pay over what would be
received if assigned as Fire Fighter;
2. After one year of: paramedic service, ten
percent additional pay over what would be
received if assigned as Fire Fighter.
3. After two years of paramedic service, thir-
teen percent additional pay over what would
be received if assigned as Fire Fighter.
SECTION 2. Sections 1A4.025, 1A4.026 and 1A4.145 are
added to Chapter lA4 of Title 1A, of said El Segundo Administrative
Code to read as follows:

the payroll deduction made April 27, 1979 from the pay-
roll for the period ending April 20, 1979.
• B. Dental. Uniformed members of the fire service
enumerated in this Chapter shall receive a total of $9.36
per month for dental insurance for the employee only com-
mencing with the payroll deduction made April 27, 1979
from the payroll for the period ending April 20, 1979.

SECTION 1A4.145 INSURANCE BENEFITS. A. Medical.
Uniformed members of the fire service enumerated in this
Chapter shall receive a total of $84.74 per month for
health and medical insurance under the existing group

C. Medical /Dental. Effective the first payroll
after July 1, 1979 in which medical and dental insurance
premiums are deducted, instead of the provisions of sub-
paragraphs "A" and "B" hereof:
1. The City shall pay toward the premium of the
City's group dental insurance program, on behalf
of each employee enumerated in this Chapter who
participate in the program, the lesser of the
following:
(a) The sum of $14.36 per month;
(b) The premium cost for the employee only.
In the event the premium cost for the employee
only should be less than $14.36 per month, the
difference between the actual premium cost and
the sum of $14.36 shall be applied for each such
month to the payment of medical insurance
premiums (as set forth in subparagraph 2) for
those employees enumerated in this Chapter who
participate in the City's group health and
medical insurance program.
2. The City shall pay toward the premium of the
City's group health and medical insurance pro-
gram on behalf of each employee enumerated in
this Chapter who participate in the program the
sum of $94.74 per month (an increase of $10.00
per month over the prior payment) together with
any amount made available for health and medical
insurance pursuant to subparagraph 1 hereof.
D. Medical /Dental. Effective the first payroll
after July 1, 1980 in which medical and dental insurance
premiums are deducted, instead of the provisions of sub-
paragraphs "A ", "B" and "C" hereof:
. 1. The City shall pay toward the premium of the
City's group dental insurance program, on behalf
of each employee enumerated in this Chapter who
participate in the program, the lesser of the
following:
(a) The sum of $19.36 per month;
(b) The premium cost for the employee only.
In the event the premium cost for the employee
only should be less than $19.36 per month, the
difference between the actual premium cost and
the sum of $19.36 shall be applied for each such
month to the payment of medical insurance prem-
iums (as set forth in subparagraph 2) for those
employees enumerated in this Chapter who parti-
cipate in the City's group health and medical
insurance program.
2. The City shall pay toward the premium of the
City's group health and medical insurance pro-
gram on behalf of each employee enumerated in
this Chapter who participate in the program the
sum of $104.74 per month (an increase of $10.00
per month over the prior payment) together with
any amount made available for health and medical
insurance pursuant to subparagraph 1 hereof.
SECTION 3. All resolutions and orders of the City Coun-
cil heretofore passed and adopted with reference to the same, or
any of the matters and subjects hereinabove set forth or referred
• to, are hereby rescinded insofar as the same conflict with the
provisions hereof.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in the book of
original resolutions of said city; and shall make a minute of the

• passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of
the City Council of said city, in the minutes of the meeting at
which the same is passed and adopted.
