• RESOLUTION NO. 2715
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDOr CALIFORNIA, STRONGLY
URGING THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS TO REDUCE THE DISTRICT RATES
OF TAXES THROUGHOUT LOS ANGELES COUNTY.
WHEREAS, a major portion of real and personal property
within Los Angeles County has been reassessed for the fiscal
year 1976-77 by the Los Angeles County Assessor's office; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that said reassessment
has resulted in an average increase of approximately 14% in said
assessment roll over the 1975-76 basis; and
WHEREAS, said reassessment will provide to the various
districts within the Los Angeles County and to the County of
Los Angeles General Fund many millions of dollars of additional
tax revenue; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined by way of the Long
Beach-Los Angeles Consumer Price Index that there has been an
increase of only 6.57% in the cost of living for said period; and
WHEREAS, it appears that the County of Los Angeles
Board of Supervisors will within the next thirty (30) days
set tax rates for the various Los Angeles County Taxing Districts
and will also set the tax rate for the General Fund of the
County of Los Angeles; and
WHEREAS, it now appears that the County of Los Angeles
has the immediate ability and the financial opportunity to pass
on to the various municipalities and to the taxpayers within
said municipalities of Los Angeles County at least a portion of
the financial benefits derived from the increased assessments;
0 NOW THEREFORE, the Los Angeles County Board of Super-
visors is hereby requested and strongly urged to effect an immedi-
ate and substantial reduction in the tax rate of all Los Angeles
County Taxing Districts and of the General Fund of the County
of Los Angeles.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution
be forwarded to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors
and to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Norwalk.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the City Clerk shall
certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall
cause the same to be entered in the book of original resolutions
of said City; and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption
thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council
of said City in the minutes of the meeting at which the same
is passed and adopted.
