A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA,
AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN THE
CENTINELA VALLEY REGIONAL DIVERSION
PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the City of El Segundo, California, desires
to continue to participate in a, certain project designated as
the Centinela Valley Regional Diversion Project to be funded
in part from funds made available through the Crime Control
Act of 19731 PL 93 -83, administered by the California Office
of Criminal Justice Planning (hereafter referred to as O.C.J.P.);
and
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles Regional Criminal Justice
Planning Board has been organized and has published 4 Regional
Criminal Master Plan for Region R; and
WHEREAS, the City of El Segundo,on behalf of the
governing bodies of the jurisdictions of El Segundo, Gardena,
Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, and Los Angeles County, sub-
mitted an application to O.C.J.P. for a grant of One Hundred
and Seventy -Two Thousand dollars (172,000) funding of a juvenile
diversion program entitled the "Centinela Valley Juvenile
Diversion Project "; and
WHEREAS, the sum of $559.00 hasteen assessed of the
City of ElSegundo for the hard -cash matching funds requirement.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
El Segundo, California, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
1* That the City of E1 Segundo agrees to participate
in the proposed "Centinela Valley Regional Diversion Project ",
to accept its share of the grant and to provide its share of
hard - casih matching funds of the grant and to provide its share of
hard -cash matching funds required for said project (including
any extension or amendment thereof) under the Crime Control Act
•
and the rules and regulations of O.C.J.P. and the Law Enforce-
ment Assistance Administration, and that cash will be appro-
priated as required thereby.
2. That the City Manager is herewith designated as
the administering representative in the conduct of the
"Centinela Valley Regional Juvenile Diversion Project" and is
authorized to furnish information, execute documents, make
expenditures, accept extensions or modifications, and perform
associated administrative functions within the scope of
authority granted by this resolution.
3. That the grant funds received hereunder shall
not be used to supplant on-going law enforcement expenditures.
4. That the United States of America and the State
of California be, and hereby are, assured o -f full compliance by
the City of El Segundo with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act
of 1964.
