RESOLUTION NO. 2585
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, RECITING
THE FACT OF THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELEC-
TION HELD IN SAID CITY OF EL SEGUNDO ON
THE 20TH DAY OF AUGUST, 1974, DECLARING
THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER
MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, a Special Municipal Election was held and conducted
in the City of E1 Segundo, County of Los Angeles, State of California, on
Tuesday, the 20th day of August, 1974, as required by law; and
WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and regularly given in
time, form and manner as provided by law; that voting precincts were properly
established; that election officers were appointed and that in all respects said
election was held and conducted and the votes cast thereat, received and can-
vassed and the returns made and declared in time, form and manner as required
by the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California for the holding
of elections in cities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 2581 adopted the 19th day
of August, 19 74, the City Clerk of the City of E1 Segundo canvassed the returns
of said election and has certified the results to this City Council, said results
are received, attached and made a part hereof as "Exhibit A. "
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That there were nine voting precincts established
for the purpose of holding said election consisting of consolidations of the
regular election precincts in the City of El Segundo as established for the
holding of state and county elections.
SECTION 2. That at said Special Municipal Election, the follov,r
ing measures were submitted to the electors of said City, to wit:
"PROPOSITION 1. Shall the City Council be authorized
to levy a property tax of not to exceed twenty -eight
cents on each one hundred dollars of assessed valua-
tion for the fiscal year 1974 -75 and not to exceed twenty -
eight cents on each one hundred dollars of assessed
valuation for the fiscal year 1975-76 over, above and
in excess of the tax otherwise authorized by law for
the purpose of acquiring, clearing, developing, im-
proving and maintaining certain property located at
438 Sheldon Street and adjacent railroad right-of-way?"

"PROPOSITION 2. Shall Ordinance No. 839 changing
the zoning of parcels of land identified as Lot 1 of Tract
2801 (438 Sheldon Street) (Sometimes referred to as the
Mosaic Tile Company property) from M -1 (Light Manu-
facturing) to PRD (Planned Residential Development)
Zone be adopted?"
SECTION 3. That the whole number of votes cast in said City
(except absent voter ballots) was 2762.
That the whole number of absent voter ballots cast in said City
was 113 , making a total of 2875 votes cast in said City.
SECTION 4. That the measures voted upon at said election are
as follows:
"PROPOSITION 1. Shall the City Council be authorized
to levy a property tax of not to exceed twenty -eight
cents on each one hundred dollars of assessed valua-
tion for the fiscal year 1974 -75 and not to exceed twenty -
eight cents on each one hundred dollars of assessed
valuation for the fiscal year 1975 -76 over, above and
in excess of the tax otherwise authorized by law for
the purpose of acquiring, clearing, developing, im-
proving and maintaining certain property located at
438 Sheldon Street and adjacent railroad right -of- way ?"
"PROPOSITION 2. Shall Ordinance No. 839 changing
the zoning of parcels of land identified as Lot 1 of Tract
2801 (438 Sheldon Street) (Sometimes referred to as the
Mosaic Tile Company oroperty) from M -1 (Light Manu-
facturing) to PRD (Planned Residential Development)
Zone be adopted?"
That the number of votes given at each orecinct for and against
the measures were as listed in Exhibit "A" attached.
SECTION 5. The City Council does declare and determine, :
That as a result of said election, a majority of the qualified voters
voting on Proposition 1 did not vote in favor thereof, and that said proposition was
not carried, and shall not be deemed adopted and ratified.
That as a result of said election, a majority of the qualified voters
voting on Proposition 2 did not vote in favor thereof, and that said proposition was
not carried, and shall not be deemed adopted and ratified.
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall enter on the records of the City
Council of said City, a statement of the result of said election showing:
(1) The whole number of votes cast in the city;
(2) The measures voted upon;

(4) The number of votes given in the city for and against
each measure.
SECTION 7. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and
adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original Resolu-
tions of said City; and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof
in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes
of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.

whole number of members of the City Council of the said City
is five; that the foregoing Resolution, being Resolution No. 2585
was duly passed and adopted by the said City Council, approved
and signed by the Mayor of said City, and attested by the City
Clerk of said City, all at a regular meeting of the said Council
held on the 27th day of August , 1974
and that the same was so passed and adopted by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Nagel, Rockhold, Stephens,
Van Vranken and Mayor Balmer;
NOES: Councilmen None
