RESOLUTION NO. 2 567
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, PROVIDING
CERTAIN ADJUSTMENTS IN SALARIES AND OTHER
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT FOR CERTAIN EM-
PLOYEES OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, the City Manager has entered into a Memorandum
of Understanding with the E1 Segundo Firemen's Association in words and
figures as follows:
"June 25, 1974
"MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING 1974 -75
"This memorandum constitutes a mutual agreement be-
tween the E1 Segundo Firemen's Association, represented by the
Public Employees Union, Teamsters Local No. 986 and the under-
signed management representatives to recommend to the E1 Segundo
City Council the salaries, benefits and working conditions described
herein.
"It is mutually agreed that this Memorandum of Understanding
shall be effective from the period beginning July 1, 1974 and ending
June 30, 1975. There will be no reduction in salaries, hours or
working conditions and there will be no other meeting and conferring
on salaries, hours, and working conditions for the term covered by
this memorandum except by mutual agreement of the parties.
1. Salaries of all classifications represented by the Public
Employees Union will be increased eight and one -half
percent effective July 1, 1974.
2. Salaries of all classifications represented by the Public
Employees Union will be increased two percent effective
January 1, 1975.
3. No employee hired after June 30, 1974 will be eligible for
the longevity pay steps.
4. Up to a total of 72 hours per year will be allowed for admin-
istrative leave for the purpose of attending the California
State Firemen's Association Conference. All or part of
these hours may be used for other conferences or seminars
with the approval of the City Manager.
5. The provisions of the salary ordinance regarding overtime
will be amended as provided in the attached exhibit.
"The E1 Segundo Firemen's Association and the Public Employees
Union agree that during the term of this Memorandum their members em-
ployed by the City of E1 Segundo will not strike or engage in any work stop-
page or slowdown, engage in any concerted failure to report for duty or
fail to perform their duties in whole or in part for the purpose of inducing,
influencing or coercing a change in the conditions, or compensation, or
the rights, privileges or obligations of employment.
"The E1 Segundo Firemen's Association and the Public Employees
Union agree that Firemen employed by the City of El Segundo will not

"refuse to cross a picket line in the performance of their duties.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of Resolution No. 2522,
as amended, on and after July 1, 1974 each member of the Fire Department in
the following classifications shall be compensated at a rate of 8. 5 percent
higher than the rate shown in said Resolution No. 2522:
1. Fire Captain
2. Fire Engineer
3. Fireman
4. Fireman - Special Assignment Inspector.
SECTION 2. Notwithstanding the provisions of Sections 10. 00 and
10. 10 of Resolution No. 2522, as amended, members of the Fire Department
hired on and after July 1, 1974 shall not be eligible for longevity pay.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adop-
tion of this resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original resolutions
of said City; and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in
the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City in the minutes
of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.

SECTION 15.00 OVERTIME PAY, Employees of the City are subject to
the Fair Labor Standards Act. Overtime pay at the rate of one and one -half times
the employees's rate of pay will be paid to non - exempt employees in accordance
with the requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
SECTION 15.10 OVERTi�,iIE Pt?`l - RECALL M NIVIUM HOURS. Employees
who are recalled to work at a time other than their normal scheduled work day will
be compensated for a minimum of two hours work.
SECTION 15.20 OVERTIME PAY - FIRE DEPARTMENT. Except as other-. ,rise
herein provided, the members oLf the Fire Department of said City shall work on a
fifty -six hour oar week schedule in shift to be _;romulgated and established from
Time to time by the City Manager, and all of the members of said Department shall
be suu-bject to call for service at any and all times. Members of the Department who
are nor. - exempt under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act will be paid
overtime at the rate of one and one -half times their regular rate of pay in acco ie wit
the requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Members of the Department (with the
exception_ of the Chief) , recalled from off -duty to respond to fires and rescue calls,
'%- shall receive a minimum compensation of $5. 00 per call.
