CC RESOLUTION 2488RESOLUTION NO. 2488 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, FIXING THE COMPENSATION OF VARIOUS EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY AND APPROVING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING. WHEREAS, the City Manager has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the E1 Segundo City Employees Association in words and figures as follows: "June 29, 1973 "MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING EL SEGUNDO EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION "This Memorandum constitutes a mutual agreement between the E1 Segundo City Employees Association and the undersigned management representatives to recommend to the E1 Segundo City Council the changes in the salary, benefits, and working conditions described herein. "It is mutually agreed that this Memorandum of Understand- ing shall be effective for the period beginning July 1, 1973 and end- ing June 30, 1974, and that there will be no other negotiations for salary, benefits and working conditions for the term covered by this Memorandum: 1. Effective July 1, 1973 salaries of all classes of employees will be increased 5. 716. 2. T he Election Day holiday will be eliminated and in its place one floating holiday per year will be established. Employees will select the day to which the floating holiday will be applied prior to the first day of each calendar year. 3. The City will provide smocks for those office employees who perform work which may cause damage to employee's street clothing. 4. The City will modify the salary resolution so that employees who terminate while maintaining a balance of 132 days of sick time accrual will be paid for accrual accumulated but not used during the preceding 12 month period regardless of the date on which the employee terminates. 5. The City will adopt a dental insurance program and pay the pre - mium cost, not to exceed $7. 00 per month, for employee only. The City reserves the right to determine the insurance carrier with whom it will contract for coverage; however, the City agrees to consult with employees through the insurance committee and consider all suggestions and presentations on the insurance plan to be purchased. 6. The City will provide seven uniforms per week for those employees to whom uniforms are now provided. "7. The City will provide a $10, 000 life insurance policy for each covered employee. Glickman, Director-o-TIP—ubTic /S/ Michael Berman /S/ Jack Ruis Work Jack Ruis, Director Recreation and Park; /S/ Alvin Gallagher '; and WHEREAS, the City Council has modified said Memorandum of Understanding and approved said Memorandum of Understanding as modified, such modifications to include changes in paragraphs 6 and 7 to read as follows: 6. The City will provide seven uniforms for those employees to whom uniforms are now provided. 7. The City will provide a $10, 000 life insurance policy for each covered employee as soon as such coverage can be reasonably obtained but in no event later than September 1, 1973. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. This resolution shall affect only the permanent em- ployees enumerated under the Office Series and Operation Series of Resolu- tion No. 2458 as amended by Resolutions Nos. 2468, 2469, 2474, and 2480, and that certain minute resolution adopted May 29, 1973 and shall include part -time recreation personnel and shall not include any personnel employed under the Public Employment Program of the Emergency Employment Act of 1971. SECTION 2. On and after July 1, 1973 the salaries of all classes of employees affected by this resolution shall be increased by 5. 7 percent. SECTION 3. Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 19 of Reso- lution No. 2458, the employees affected by this resolution shall no longer have election days as holidays, but the employees affected by this resolution shall be entitled to one day off each year with pay on a day (which otherwise would be a working day for that employee) selected as a holiday by the E1 Segundo City Employees Association before the first day of each calendar year. SECTION 4. Notwithstanding the provisions of Sections 24. 30, -2- 24. 40 and 24. 45 of Resolution No. 2458, any employee covered by this reso- lution who terminates while maintaining a balance of 132 days sick leave shall be paid for his accrued sick leave accumulated but not used during the preced- ing twelve month period. SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adop- tion of this resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original resolutions of said City; and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
