RESOLUTION NO. 2245
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZ-
ING THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN FINANCE
DEPARTMENT RECORDS.
WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Council a
communication in words and figures as follows:
"October 8, 1968
"Honorable Mayor and City Council
City of E1 Segundo
California
Gentlemen:
In accordance with the provisions of Section 34090 of the Govern-
ment Code of the State of California, we intend to destroy the following
records:
1. Warrants with attached invoices, receiving slips and pur-
chase orders dated March 1958 through August 1963.
2. Payroll individual time distribution sheets from June 1958
through October 1963.
3. Water cash receipt stubs from July 1958 to Sept. 1963.
4. General ledgers, and general journals from 1920 through
1960. Various miscellaneous bid forms from 1944 through
1958.
The foregoing records are no longer required for the operation of
the Finance Department; are not records affecting the title to real property
or liens thereon, are not court records, are not required to be kept by
statute, are not less than five years old, nor is any entry thereon less than
five years old, are not minutes, ordinances, or resolutions of a legislative
body or a city board or commission.

In accordance with the provisions of Section 34090 of the Government Code
of the State of California, the City Attorney hereby gives his written con-
sent to the destruction of the foregoing records.

WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the records referred to
in said communication are of no further value to the City of El Segundo, and
that they occupy badly needed storage space; and
WHEREAS, the City Attorney has, in accordance with the provi-

sions of Section 34090 of the Government Code of the State of California,
consented to the destruction of said records and documents;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Director of Finance is hereby authorized
and granted authority to dispose of the hereinabove described and set forth
records by causing the same to be destroyed in a lawful manner.
SECTION 2. Upon destruction of the foregoing records, the
Director of Finance shall make a certificate of complete destruction of
said records and file the original of the same in the office of the City Clerk
and a copy of said certificate together with a certified copy of this resolu-
tion in his office.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution and thenceforth and thereafter, the same shall be in full
force and effect.

The undersigned Director of Finance of the City of El Segundo,
California, pursuant to the terms and provisions of Section 34090 of the
Government Code of the State of California, certifies to the destruction
of the records set forth and described in his letter of October 8, 1968,
a copy of which is incorporated in Resolution No. 2245 of the City
Council of the City of E1 Segundo.
I certify under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true
and correct.

City of E1 Segundo, California, DO HEREBY CERTIFY that the
whole number of members of the City Council of the said City
is five; that the foregoing Resolution, being Resolution No. 2245
was duly passed and adopted by the said City Council, approved
and signed by the Mayor of said City, and attested by the City
Clerk of said City, all at a regular meeting of the said Council
held on the 12th day of November, , 196 8 ,
and that the same was so passed and adopted by the following vote:

Mayor Carr;
