RESOLUTION NO. 2239
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING THE PROGRAM OF
THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA RAPID TRANSIT
DISTRICT ENDORSING THE PROPOSAL FOR A
HALF -CENT SALES TAX ON THE NOVEMBER 5
BALLOT.
WHEREAS, the problems of moving people and goods in
the Los Angeles area is of critical importance to the continued growth
of this dynamic area; and
WHEREAS, our growing population is making it impossible
for residents to move quickly and dependably between jobs and homes
without improved public transportation; and
WHEREAS, the California Division of Highways estimates
that by 1980, thousands of commuters will be unable to enter major
freeways during the rush hours; and
WHEREAS, the Southern California Rapid Transit District
has placed a proposal for a half -cent sales tax on the November 5
ballot to fund improved public transportation - including Rapid Transit
and new and augmented bus services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of E1 Segundo hereby supports the program of the Southern
California Rapid Transit District; endorses the proposal for a half -cent
sales tax on the November 5 ballot and urges the citizens of the City of
El Segundo to vote "yes" November 5 on the proposal.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 9th day of Septem-
ber, 1968.

is five; that the foregoing Resolution, being Resolution No. 2239
was duly passed and adopted by the said City Council, approved
and signed by the Mayor of said City, and attested by the City
Clerk of said City, all at a regular meeting of the said Council
held on the 9th day of September , 196 8 ,
and that the same was so passed and adopted by the following vote:
