RESOLUTION NO. 2174
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, URGING
THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION OF THE
STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO DENY THE PETI-
TION OF THE GENERAL TELEPHONE COMPANY
AND THE PACIFIC TELEPHONE AND TELEGRAPH
COMPANY TO DIVIDE THE SOUTHERN SECTION
TELEPHONE DIRECTORY INTO FOUR SEPARATE
DIRECTORIES.
WHEREAS, the General Telephone Company of California
and the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company have filed their
Application No. 48693 with the Public Utilities Commission of the
State of California, requesting authority to divide the present Los
Angeles Southern Section Telephone Directory into four separate
directories to be introduced in October, 1967; and
WHEREAS, this Council feels that such proposed directory
changes would not be compatible with the personal business, shopping
or economic interests of: (1) the citizens who reside and are located
within the boundaries of the present Southern Area Directory, or (2)
any user of telephone service in Los Angeles County who might have
reason to contact any person or business in the Southern Area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, does hereby
urge and request the Public Utilities Commission of the State of Cali-
fornia, to deny the petition of the General Telephone Company of Cali-
fornia and The Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company to divide the
present Los Angeles Southern Section Telephone Directory into four
separate directories; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk be, and
is hereby authorized and directed to forward certified copies of this
resolution to the City of Gardena and to the Public Utilities Commission
of the State of California.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 14th day of Novem-
ber, 1966.

City of E1 Segundo, California, DO HEREBY CERTIFY that the
whole number of members of the City Council of the said City
is five; that the foregoing Resolution, being Resolution No. 2174
was duly passed and adopted by the said City Council, approved
and signed by the Mayor of said City, and attested by the City
Clerk of said City, all at a regular meeting of the said Council
held on the 14th day of November , 1966
and that the same was so passed and adopted by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Carr, Frederick, McElhaney,
Nagel and Mayor McGill;
NOES: Councilmen None:
