RESOLUTION NO. 2121
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA,
OPPOSING THE USE OF GAS TAX FUNDS
FOR ANY PURPOSE WHICH DOES NOT
DIRECTLY BENEFIT MOTOR VEHICLES.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That it is inalterably opposed to the use of
gas tax funds or in -lieu funds for any purpose which does not directly
benefit motor vehicles.
SECTION 2. That it vigorously opposes the use of gas
tax funds or in -lieu funds to propagandize Rapid Transit or "to com-
municate these critical facts to the citizenry" or other publicity which
does not directly benefit motor vehicles.
SECTION 3. That it strongly opposes empowering appointive
authority to levy taxes without the vote of the people as proposed.
SECTION 4. That it uneqivocally opposes the legislation
heretofore proposed covering the above by the Southern California
Rapid Transit District.
SECTION 5. That it urges the legislature of the State of
California, and particularly the members thereof representing the
people of this Community to give their full and unrelenting opposition
to such proposed legislation preserving the integrity of the existing
use of gas tax funds and in -lieu funds as they now exist.
SECTION 6. That certified copies of this resolution be
sent to the Honorable Thomas M. Reese, State Senator, and to the
Honorable Charles Edward Chapel, Assemblyman of the State of Cali-
fornia.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 12th day of April,
1965.

Clerk of said City, all at a regular meeting of the said Council
