RESOLUTION NO. 2034
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, REQUEST-
ING THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA,
TO GRANT PERMISSION FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
OF A SANITARY SEWER AND STORM DRAIN IN
IMPERIAL HIGHWAY IN THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES.
WHEREAS, the City of E1 Segundo is a municipal corpora-
tion located in the County of Los Angeles, State of California; and
WHEREAS, said City of El Segundo owns and operates a
sanitary sewer system and a storm drain system within its bound-
aries; and
WHEREAS, it is essential, in order to properly and effici-
ently operate said sanitary sewer system and storm drain system in a
manner most compatible with the public health, safety and welfare, to
construct a relief sanitary sewer and a storm drain within a portion of
Imperial Highway within the City of Los Angeles, a chartered city within
said County, which immediately adjoins said City of El Segundo on the
north; and
WHEREAS, said City of El Segundo's sewer system and
storm drain system can not adequately and conveniently be provided
with conduits unless it constructs and maintains the said relief sanitary
sewer and storm drain within said City of Los Angeles, herein above
referred to and hereinafter described;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, FIND,
DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
First: Said City Council hereby finds and by this resolu-
tion declares that the location of said City is such that it can not ade-
quately or conveniently be provided with conduits unless said City con-
structs and maintains certain connecting conduits (relief sanitary sewer,
manholes and appurtenances, and a 36" steel storm drain pressure line,
air release valves, and appurtenances) as hereinafter described.
Second: That the said conduits proposed to be constructed

and maintained within said City of Los Angeles are described as follows:
24" vitrified clay pipe sanitary sewer, reinforced concrete manholes
with pressure lids, metering structure, meter, and 24" cast iron by-
pass, and appurtenances; and a 36" steel storm drain pressure line,
mortar lined and coated, air release valves, and appurtenances.
Third: That the location and description of the said conduits
and of the public street in, across, and along which the same are pro-
posed to be constructed and maintained are as follows:
(a) Sanitary sewer: A 24" vitrified clay pipe sanitary
sewer in the median strip of Imperial Highway 2 feet
north of the center line thereof, from a point approxi-
mately 249 feet westerly of the northerly prolonga-
tion of the center line of California Street (in the City
of E1 Segundo) to a point approximately 140 feet east-
erly of the center line of Loma Vista Street (in the
City of El Segundo); and crossing the south half of
Imperial Highway at right angles to its center line
at the last above - mentioned point, to the south line
of Imperial Highway; and crossing the south half of
Imperial Highway at an angle of approximately 33° to
its center line at the first above - mentioned point, to
the south line of Imperial Highway (in the City of Los
Angeles).
(b) Metering structure and by -pass line: A portion of
the metering structure, cast iron by -pass line,
located 2 feet north of the south line of Imperial High-
way between lines 40 feet and 60 feet, respectively,
west of the produced center line of Loma Vista Street
(in the City of El Segundo).
(c) Storm Drain: A 36" steel, mortar lined and coated,
storm water pumping line in the median strip of Imper-
ial Highway located 2. 75 feet south of the center line
of said Highway and beginning approximately 130 feet
westerly of the northerly prolongation of the center
line of Main Street (in the City of El Segundo) to a point
in the median strip of said Imperial Highway approxi-
mately 630 feet westerly of the northerly prolongation
of Center Street (in the City of E1 Segundo); and south-
easterly at an angle of approximately 66° to the center
line of Imperial Highway from the last above- mentioned
point, to the south line of Imperial Highway (in the City
of Los Angeles)
in accordance with and as shown on Drawings E -200 through E -214, both
inclusive, and Drawings L -76, L -77, E -215, E -216, F -157, F -158, F -159
and F -160, on file in the office of the City Engineer of the City of El Se-
gundo, which are hereby approved and referred to and by this reference
incorporated herein and made a part hereof.
Fourth: That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and instructed

to transmit to the governing body of the City of Los Angeles the follow-
ing:
(a) A certified copy of this resolution;
(b) certified copies of said Drawings Nos. E -200 through
E -214, both inclusive, L -76, L -77, E -215, E -216,
F -157, F -158, F -159 and F -160; and
(c) a written request signed by said City Clerk that per-
mission be granted to the City of El Segundo by the
City of Los Angeles to construct and maintain within
said City of Los Angeles the conduits (24" vitrified
clay pipe sanitary sewer, manholes, metering struc-
ture, meter and 24" cast iron by -pass line, and appur-
tenances; and a 36" steel storm drain pressure line,
air release valves and appurtenances) described in
this resolution.
