RESOLUTION NO. 1966
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, GIVING
NOTICE OF PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF UNIN-
HABITED TERRITORY DESIGNATED AS "AVIA-
TION BOULEVARD ANNEXATION'.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That pursuant to the provisions of the Annexa-
tion of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939, being Article 5, Chapter 1,
Part 2, Division 2, of Title 4, Sections 35300 to 35326 of the Govern-
ment Code, the Council of the City of El Segundo, upon its own motion
and without requiring a petition therefor, hereby initiates proceedings
to annex to the City of El Segundo certain uninhabited territory contigu-
ous thereto and situated in the County of Los Angeles.
The boundaries of the territory so proposed to be annexed
are specifically described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the west line of Section 17, Township 3
South, Range 14 West, in the Rancho Sausal Redondo, as shown
on map filed in Case No. 11629 of the Superior Court of the
State of California in and for the County of Los Angeles, said
point being in the southwesterly prolongation of the northwest-
erly line of Tract No. 19902, as shown on map recorded in
Book 511, pages 10 to 14 inclusive of Map, in the office of
the Recorder of said county, and 1, 611. 45 feet more or less,
south of the northwest corner of said Section 17 and being a
point in the southeasterly boundary of the City of El Segundo
as the same existed on March 1, 1961; THENCE southerly
along the westerly line of said Section 17 a distance of 3, 652.12
feet more or less, to a point in the boundary of the City of
Hawthorne as the same existed on March 1, 1961; THENCE
southerly along the said boundary of the City of Hawthorne
20. 00 feet more or less, to a point in the boundary of the City
of Manhattan Beach as the same existed on March 1, 1961;
THENCE westerly along the said boundary of the City of Man-
hattan Beach 20. 00 feet more or less to a point in the boundary
of the said City of El Segundo; THENCE northerly and north-
easterly along the various courses of the said boundary of the
City of E1 Segundo to the point of beginning.
Such Territory is hereby designated as "AVIATION BOULE-
VARD ANNEXATION. " The boundaries thereof as set forth above were,
on April 26, 1961, reported upon and approved with respect to definite-
ness and certainty by the Boundary Commission of Los Angeles County.

SECTION 2. That said Council does hereby declare that
these proceedings for the annexation of said territory have been
initiated by it and said Council does hereby declare and set forth the
following reasons as the reasons of said Council for desiring to
annex such territory:
FIRST: Said territory is contiguous to said City and is
logically situated as to constitute a desirable component part of
said City.
SECOND: That the annexation of Aviation Boulevard
will eliminate, among other things, the problems of emergency
equipment response and other jurisdicitional problems of this street
which, in part, forms the eastern most boundary of this city.
THIRD: That said territory logically should be a part of
the City of El Segundo.
SECTION 3. That said Council does hereby set the matter
of said proposed annexation of said territory to said City for public
hearing before said Council, and does hereby fix and give notice of
said hearing which will be held in the Council Chamber in the City
Hall of the City of El Segundo, California, 350 Main Street, in said
City, beginning at the hour of 7 :00 P. M. on Monday, the 10th day of
July, 1961. Said Council does hereby give further notice that at any
time not later than the hour set for said hearing, any owner of prop-
erty within the territory proposed to be annexed may file written pro-
test against the proposed annexation. Such protest shall state the
name or names of the owner or owners of the property affected there-
by, and the description and area of such property in general terms.
At the time set for said hearing, the City Council will proceed to
hear and pass upon all protests so made. Any person protesting or
otherwise interested in said proposed annexation will be afforded full
opportunity to address said Council at said hearing and to produce
evidence thereat respecting said proposed annexation or any matter
or subject related thereto.

SECTION 4. That the City Clerk of the City of El Segundo
shall enter this resolution in the book of original resolutions of said
City; shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the
records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City in the
minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted; and,
as provided by law (and as notice of said hearing) shall cause said
resolution to be published at least twice, but not oftener than once a
week, at least 20 days prior to the hearing above fixed and noticed,
in the E1 Segundo Herald, a bi- weekly newspaper of general circula-
tion published in said City of El Segundo; and in the Daily Breeze, a
newspaper of general circulation published outside the City but within
the County in which said City is located, to wit: Los Angeles County.
Said City Clerk shall give any other or additional notice of such pro-
posed annexation as may be required under the provisions of Section
35311 of said Government Code; said notice of such proposed annexa-
tion to be mailed not less than 20 days before the hearing above fixed
and noticed.
SECTION 5. That this resolution shall take effect immediately.
