CC RESOLUTION 1789
RESOLUTION NO. 1789 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES TO EXCLUDE THAT PORTION OF THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES HEREINAFTER SET FORTH, FOR PURPOSES OF ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO. WHEREAS, over a period of years Los Angeles and El Se- gundo City officials have carefully studied, and in so doing have recognized, the favorability of realigning certain common boundary lines of both cities to best serve the interest of each city and the people thereof, and as a consequence have effected some beneficial changes; and 9©44 WHEREAS, of recommended changes, there is unaccomplished the realignment of the common city boundary presently extending down the center of Imperial Highway west of Sepulveda Boulevard, which, if realigned, among other things, would eliminate juris- dictional questions requiring emergency equipment from both cities when accidents occur, and further would eliminate joint mainten- ance problems of the roadway itself; and WHEREAS, the recommended realignment also contemplates the inclusion in E1 Segundo of the strip of land which separates old Imperial Highway and New Imperial Highway in order that the City of E1 Segundo will have jurisdiction to beautify the same to the advantage of both cities and plant suitable trees as a buffer against airport noises; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY .COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SE- GUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of El Segundo respectfully requests that the City of Los Angeles most favorably consider initiating proceedings for the realignment of the common boundary line of said cities immediately west of - 1 - STATE OF CALIFORNIA COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES SS. CITY OF EL SEGUNDO Eunice U. Creaso-- City Clerk of the City of El Segundo, - -- -----•-- --- California, do hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council of the said City is five; that the foregoing.. -- ....resolution being- . ...... None ABSENT: Councilman eschu M - - - - -- -k ------------------------------- - - ---- --- -- ------------- - - -- -- WITNESS my hand and the official seal of said City this .... l$th --------------- day of - - ---- February------- - - -- -- 195$ City Clerk of the City of El Segundo, California (SEAL) 9045 Sepulveda Boulevard by excluding from Los Angeles, and thereby making available for annexation purposes to the City of E1 Se- gundo the following parcel of land generally known and described as follows: All that certain territory within Sections 1 and 2, T3S, R15W, S.B.B.M., bounded on the North and East by the south line of new Imperial Highway in the City of Los Angeles, California, and on the South by the northerly boundary of the City of E1 Segundo, California, and on the West by a line parallel to and 1,129.02 feet west of the center line of Hillcrest Street, shown on map of Tract 1685 (El Segundo), said territory being approximately 9,181 feet long, and 142 feet wide. SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause the original of the same to be entered in the book of resolutions of the said City of E1 Segundo; shall make a minute of the passage and adop- tion thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Coun- cil of the said city, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted; and shall forward three certified copies to the City Council of the City of Los Angeles.
