RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 1 -786
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING ITS INTEN-
TION TO ORDER THE CONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN
STREET IMPROVEMENTS IN INDIANA STREET AND
OTHER STREETS IN SAID CITY; DECLARING THE
WORK TO BE OF MORE THAN LOCAL OR ORDINARY
PUBLIC BENEFIT AND DESCRIBING THE DISTRICT
TO BE BENEFITED BY SAID WORK AND TO PAY THE
COSTS AND EXPENSES, AND FIXING THE TIME AND
PLACE OF HEARING OBJECTIONS TO SAID WORK
The City Council of the City of El Segundo, pursiant to
the provisions of the "Improvement Act of 191111, being Division 7
of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, DOES
RESOLVE as follows:
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
SECTION 1. That the public interest and convenience re-
quire, and it is the intention of the City Council of the City of
E1 Segundo, California, to order the following work to be done,
to wit:
First: The grading, paving with asphaltic concrete, removal
of certain curb and sidewalk, construction of cement concrete
curb, sidewalk and driveway approaches, cement pipe storm drain,
catch basin and manhole, and appurtenant work in connection there-
with; in
INDIANA STREET
between the produced south line of Holly Avenue and the south line
of Mariposa Avenue, as shown on Sheets 4, 5 and 6 of the plans
hereinafter referred to.
Second: The grading, paving with asphaltic concrete, con-
struction of cement concrete curbs, sidewalk and driveway ap-
proaches, cement pipe storm drain, catch basin, manhole and appur-
tenant work in connection therewith; in
ILLINOIS STREET
between the south line of Holly Avenue and a line parallel with
and 5 feet northerly from the center line of Pine Avenue, as

shown on Sheets 2 and 5 of said plans; and in
HOLLY AVENUE
between Illinois Street and Indiana Street, as shown on Sheets
3 and 5 of said plans.
Third: The grading, paving with asphaltic concrete and
appurtenant work in connection therewith; in
PINE AVENUE
between the west line of Indiana Street and a line 7 feet west-
erly from and parallel therewith, as shown on Sheet 4 of said
plans; and in the southerly 7 feet of
MARIPOSA AVENUE
between lines 32 feet westerly and 32 feet easterly from the
produced center line of Indiana Street, as shown on Sheet 4 of
said plans.
PLANS, PROFILES, DRAWINGS, AND SPECIFICATIONS
SECTION 2. That all of the said work and improvement
to be done shall constructed upon the grades, along the lines,
between the points, of the dimensions, at the places and in the
manner shown on the plans, profiles and drawings for the con-
struction of said improvements in Indiana Street and other streets,
being Plan and Profile No. 57 -5, Sheets 2 to 6, inclusive, and
Standard Street Drawing No. 550000, all on file in the office of
the City Engineer of said city and except as otherwise provided
on said plans, in further accordance with Specifications No.
57 -5, being on file in the office of the City Clerk of said city
and to which plans, profiles, drawings and specifications hereto-
fore approved by the City Council of said city reference is here-
by made for a further, full and more particular description of
said work and by reference thereto, the same are incorporated
herein and made a part hereof.
DESCRIPTION OF ASSESSMENT DISTRICT
SECTION 3. That the said contemplated work and improve-
ment, in the opinion of the said City Council, is of more than

local or ordinary public benefit and the said City Council here-
by makes the expenses of the said work and improvement chargeable
upon a district, which said district the said City Council hereby
declares to be the district benefited by said work and improvement
and to be assessed to pay the costs and expenses thereof, and
which district is described as follows:
All that certain territory in the City of E1 Segundo,
California, exclusive of streets and alleys, included within the
exterior boundary line shown upon that certain map or plat, be-
ing Sheet 1 of Plan No. 57 -5, heretofore approved by the City
Council of said city on the 13th day of January, 1958, indicating
by said boundary line the extent of the territory included within
the proposed assessment district, and which map or plat is on file
in the office of the City Engineer of said city. Reference is
hereby made to said map or plat for a further, full and more par-
ticular description of said assessment district, and the said
map or plat so on file shall govern for all details as to the
extent of the said assessment district.
PROFILE GRADES
SECTION 4. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the finished
grade of the improvement will be different from the existing
grade of the streets as they now exist, and such different or new
grade is that shown on the plans and profiles herein referred to.
DESCRIPTION OF BONDS
SECTION 5. That serial bonds, bearing interest at the
rate of six per cent (6%) per annum, shall be issued to represent
each assessment of Fifty Dollars 050.00) or more remaining un-
paid for thirty (30) days after the date of recording the warrant.
Said serial bonds shall extend over a period ending nine (9) years
from the second day of January next succeeding the next October
15th following their date. Payments on the principal of unpaid
assessments and interest thereon shall be made by property owners

to the City Treasurer, all as provided in the "Improvement Act of
1911 ", hereinafter referred to.
PORTION OF COSTS AND EXPENSES TO BE PAID BY CITY
SECTION 6. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Coun-
cil of the City of E1 Segundo has determined and declared that
the city will pay out of its General Fund an estimated amount of
$21,052.35 toward the costs and expenses of the removal and re-
placement of curb and sidewalk and construction of curbs, side-
walks and storm drains, the exact amount of said contribution to
be determined upon receipt of bids setting forth the unit prices
for such removal and replacement at the completion of the project.
The liability and obligation to pay such sum as provided herein
shall accrue and become fixed upon the date of the confirmation
of the assessment by the City Council of said city.
TIME AND PLACE OF HEARING
SECTION 7. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 10th day
of March, 1958, at the hour of seven ofclock (7;00) P. M., in the
chambers of the City Council in the City Hall of said city, any
and all persons having any objections to the proposed work or im-
provement, or in the extent of the assessment district, or to the
proposed grades, may appear and show cause why said work should
not be done or carried out in accordance with this Resolution of
Intention. Protests must be in writing and must be delivered to
the City Clerk prior to the time set for the hearing.
IMPROVEMENT ACT
SECTION 8. That all of the work herein proposed shall
be done and carried through in pursuance of an act of the legis-
lature of the State of California, designated the "Improvement
Act of 1911 ", being Division 7 of the Streets and Highways Code
of the State of California.
PUBLICATION OF RESOLUTION OF INTENTION
SECTION 9. That the "E1 Segundo Herald ", a weekly
newspaper published and of general circulation in the City of

E1 Segundo, California, is hereby designated as the newspaper in
which this Resolution of Intention shall be published by the
City Clerk, in the manner and form provided by law, and for making
all other publications in the proceedings under this Resolution
of Intention.
The City Clerk is directed to mail notices of the adop-
tion of this Resolution of Intention to all persons owning real
property proposed to be assessed, whose names and addresses ap-
pear an the last equalized assessment roll for city taxes, all in
the manner and form provided for under Section 5070, 5194 and
5195 of the said "Improvement Act of 1911" of said Streets and
Highways Code.
POSTING OF NOTICE OF IMPROVEMENT
SECTION 10. That the Superintendent of Streets of the
City of El Segundo shall cause to be conspicuously posted along
the line of said contemplated work or improvement and along all
open streets within the district liable to be assessed for said
work, notices of the passage of this Resolution of Intention in
the time, form and manner provided by said Code.
ESTIMATED COSTS AND EXPENSES
SECTION 11. That the estimated costs and expenses of
said improvement, inclusive of incidental expenses of the pro-
ceedings under this Resolution of Intention, is the sum of
$47o755-51.
SECTION 12. That Resolution of Intention No. 1776,
adopted January 13, 1958, for the above mentioned improvement,
and all subsequent proceedings or steps taken thereunder, be and
the same is hereby repealed, set aside and abandoned.
SECTION 13. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in
the book of resolutions of said city, and shall make a minute of
the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings

of the City Council of said city in the minutes of the meeting
at which the same is passed and adopted.
