CC RESOLUTION 1744RESOLUTION NO. 1744 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING RESOLU- TION NO. 1621 (THE SALARY RESOLUTION) OF SAID COUNCIL IN VARIOUS PARTICULARS. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That paragraph "(A)" of Section 2 of Part I of Resolution 1621 passed and adopted on the 11th day of June, 1956, shall be, and the same is, hereby amended so as to read as follows: "(A) (1) Of the five steps set forth in the foregoing schedules, Step A contemplates six months' service in the classification of the employee; Steps B, C, D and E each con- templates one year's service in each of such classifications. The first advancement of a new employee from Step A shall be made at the beginning of the pay period next ensuing after the completion of his or her first six months of service. All other advancements shall be at the beginning of the pay period next ensuing after the anniversary date of the em- ployee's assignment to a classification other than Step A. This date once established shall remain unchanged; provided, however, in those instances where the Council advances an employee in Step, the employee automatically thereby shall be assigned the effective date of said order as his or her new anniversary date. If the Council advances an employee who has been on Step E for one year or more from Step E of a range to a different step in another range, the employee automatically thereby shall be assigned the effective date of said order as his or her new anniversary. (2) With respect to SCHEDULE NOS. 1 and 2, each em- ployee of the City shall have the range number hereinafter - 1 - designated for his calssification and shall have the same step number in that classification that he last had in any classification prior to the adoption of this resolution with the exception of the Director of Finance who will be on Step A on the range indicated." SECTION 2. That a new subdivision 11(3)" shall be and the same is hereby added to paragraph "(B)" of Section 2 of said Part I of said Resolution No. 1621, and which said new subdivision shall read as follows: 11(3) Temporary employees and part -time employees who by reason of their limited employment schedule do not qualify for benefits under the State Employees Retirement Act shall not receive paid sick leaves, paid vacations, and paid holi- days; those who qualify for benefits under the State Employees Retirement Act shall receive the fringe benefits accorded all regular full time employees including vacation and sick leave on a pro rata basis, but excluding paid holidays." SECTION 3• That a new subdivision "4.1" shall be and the same is hereby added to paragraph "(C) SAFETY SERVICES SERIES" of Section 3 of said Part I of said Resolution No. 1621, and which new subdivision shall read as follows: "4.1 Police Detective ------- - - - - -- 13 424 -515" SECTION 4. That a new "SECTION 1.1" shall be and the same is hereby added to Part II of said Resolution No. 1621, and which new section shall read as follows: "SECTION 1.1. RESIDENCE REQUIREMENTS. All police and fire personnel herein classified as tpoliceman' and 'fireman' must maintain a permanent residence within a 10 mile radius of the E1 Segundo Civic Center; all other personnel of said departments (excluding clerical) must maintain permanent residence within the incorporated limits of the city." SECTION 5. That this resolution shall take effect and be in full force and virtue on and after August 15, 1957. - 2 - SECTION 6. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original resolutions of said City; and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
