A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING RESOLUTION
NO. 1621 (THE SALARY RESOLUTION) OF SAID COUN-
CIL BY AMENDING "PART I" OF SAID RESOLUTION, AS
AMENDED.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA,
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That "PART I" of Resolution No. 1621 (the
salary resolution) of said Council, passed and adopted on the 11th
day of June, 1956, shall be and the same is hereby amended so as to
read as follows, to wit:
"PART I
RATES AND SCHEDULES
"SECTION 1. FIXED SERIES: That subject to the other
provisions of this resolution, each of the incumbents of the fol-
lowing offices or positions in the service of the City of E1 Se-
gundo shall be entitled to receive for his or her services, in
his or her office or position, the rate or rates of compensation
hereinafter set forth:
(A) CITY ATTORNEY ------------------- - - - - -- $470.00 per month
and in addition thereto, he shall
receive such reasonable additional
fees or compensation as the City
Council may allow for suits,appear-
ances or proceedings before any
Court, Board, Officer or Commission
in, or before which he has been di-
rected to act or appear, and also
when allowed by the Council, extra
compensation for bond issues of all
kinds and for any service which the
Council may deem extraordinary
(B) CITY CLERK ---------------------- - - - - -- $250.00 per month
(C) CITY MANAGER ------------------ - - - - -- $1,250.00 per month

for his or her

rate of compensation

advancement
of a
new employee from Step
A shall be
made at the
beginning of
the pay period next
ensuing
after the
completion of
his or her
first
six months of
service.
All other
advancements
shall be at
the beginning of the
pay period next ensuing
after
the anniver-
sary
date of the employee's
assignment
to a classification
other
than
Step A. This
date once
established
shall remain
unchanged;

provided, however, in those instances where the Council advances
an employee in Step, the employee automatically thereby shall be
assigned the effective date of said order as his or her new an-
niversary date.
With respect to SCHEDULE NOS. 1 and 2, each employee
of the City shall have the range number hereinafter designated
for his classification and shall have the same step number in that
classification that he last had in any classification prior to
the adoption of this resolution with the exception of the Direct-
or of Finance who will be on Step A on the range indicated.
(B) It is provided further: (1) That the City Council re-
serves the right at any time, and in its sole discretion, to
change the range number assigned to any officer or employee and
to determine the particular step in any range number which is to
be thereafter assigned to any such officer or employee; and
(2) Temporary employees for whom no classification or
range number is provided or whose compensation is not otherwise
fixed by this resolution shall receive such compensation as the
City Council shall designate in the resolution or order of ap-
pointment for such respective temporary employees.
"SECTION 3. SCHEDULE OF CLASSES BY SERIES: That the
following respective range numbers are hereby allocated and as-
signed to the following respective offices, positions, or employ-
ments in the service of said City, hereinafter set forth opposite

in order to be entitled to re-
ceive such compensation, such
Call Men shall have attended at

drill or special service assign-

of all actual alarms for which
volunteer call has been made in
such month.
The Fire Chief, for causes
which in his opinion are deemed
adequate and sufficient, shall
have the authority to excuse at-
tendance at any drill, special
assignment or actual alarm, and
the particular excused attendance
shall be credited as having been
attended for the purposes of de-
termining compensation hereunder.
15. Uniform Allowances: Following the effective date of this
resolution, firefighting and police employees who are re-
quired to purchase and continuously maintain prescribed
items of uniform clothing and personal equipment shall be
compensated for a portion of the initial and maintenance
costs thereof according to the following:
(1) All police officers and those firefighting personnel
required to regularly wear dress uniform while on
duty---- -- --------------- ----- - - - - - -- -$6.00 per month
(2) All other firefighting personnel - - - -- -$3.00 per month
(3) Newly appointed police officers and fire department
personnel shall be provided with uniform allowances
at the time of appointment and thereafter as follows:
(a) At the time of appointment --150% of annual
allowance
(b) At first anniversary of
appointment -------- - - -50% of annual allowance
(c) After first anniversary --100% of monthly allow-
ance
(C) PLANNING SERIES: Planning Commission Members $10.00 each
per meeting attended, not to exceed three (3) meetings
