A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING RESOLUTION
NO. 1621 (THE SALARY RESOLUTION) OF SAID COUN-
CIL IN VARIOUS PARTICULARS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA,
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AMD ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That subdivisions "(A)" and "(C)" of "SEC-
TION 1. FIXED SERIES" of "PART I" of Resolution No. 1621 (the
salary resolution) of said Council, passed and adopted on the
11th day of June, 1956, shall be and the same is hereby amended
so as to read as follows, to wit:
"(A) CITY ATTORNEY ---------------------- j425.00 per month;
and in addition thereto, he shall
receive such reasonable additional
fees or compensation as the City
Council may allow for suits, appear-
ances or proceedings before any
Court, Board, Tribunal, Officer or
Commission in, or before, which he
has been directed by the City Coun-
cil to act or appear, and also when
allowed -by the Council, extra compen-
sation for bond issues of all kinds
and for any service which the Council
may Been: extraordinary;
"(C) CITY MANAGER --------- ------------ --j037.50 per month;"
SECTION 2. That paragraph "(A)" of "SECTION 2. BASIC
FIVE -STEP SALARY SCHEDULE" of said "PART I" of said Resolution
shall be and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows,
to wit:
"(A) Of the five steps set forth in the foregoing
schedule, Step A contemplates six months' service in
the classification of the employee; Steps B, C, D and E
each contemplates one year's service in each of such
classifications. The first advancement of a new em-
ployee from Step A shall be made at the beginning of
the pay period next ensuing after the completion of his
or her first six months of service. All other advancements

shall be at the beinnin; of the pay period next ensuing
after the anniversary date of the eraployee's assignment
to a classification other than Step A. This date once
established shall remain unchanged; provided, however,
in those instances where the Council advances an employee
in Step, the employee automatically thereby shall be
assigned the effective date of said order as his or her
new anniversary date.
"That with respect to the 'BASIC FIVE -STEP SALARY
SCHEDULE', each employee of the City shall have the
schedule number hereinafter designated for his classifi-
cation and shall have the same step number in that classi-
fication that he last had in any classification prior to
the adoption of this resolution.,'
SECTION 3. That subdivisions nl" and 1161' of paragraph
"(A) ADMINISTRATIVE SERIES" of "SECTION 3. SCHEDULE OF CLASSES
BY SERIES" of said "PART I" of said Resolution shall be and the
same are hereby amended so as to read as follows, to wit;
'rl. Director of Public Works (who shall be
a registered Civil Engineer). Said 24 Director of Public Works shall have
immediate supervision over Public
Works, Engineering, Water, Sewer and
Drafting Departments, and shall act as
Street Superintendent. He shall there-
fore, as such Director of Public Ydorks,
be ex officio the City Engineer, 'dater
Superintendent, Superintendent of Sewers,
and Street Superintendent of said City
during his incumbency as such Director
of Public Works.

SECTION 4. That subdivisions 111'r, "31r, "11", 111611,
1117" and 1123" of paragraph "(C) CITY OPERATION SERIES" of said

"SECTION 3" of said "PART I" of said Resolution shall be and the
same are hereby amended so as to read as follows, to wit:
111. Director of Building and Safety 19

SECTION 5. That subdivisions 11111, t1211 and 11811 of para-
graph "(D) SAFETY SERVICES SERIES" of said "SECTION 3" of said
"PART I" of said Resolution shall be and the same are hereby
amended so as to read as follows, to wit:
111. Chief of Police 19
112. Assistant Chief of Police 17
118. Fire Chief 19f1
SECTION 6. That this resolution shall take effect and
be in full force and virtue on and after the lst day of February,
1957.
SECTION 7. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in
the book of original resolutions of said City; and shall make a
minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the
proceedings of the City Council of said City in the minutes of
the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
