RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE
ALTERNATE BID OF CASCADE PUMP COMPANY FOR
AND DELIVERING TO SAID CITY A
CERTAIN STORM WATER PUMPING UNIT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, has heretofore in the manner provided by law, duly
and regularly advertised for bids under a notice to bidders
entitled »NOTICE INVITING BIDS ON STORM WATER PUMPING UNITS,"
dated August 27, 1956, which is now on file in the office of
the City Clerk, open to public inspection, and hereby referred
to and by this reference incorporated herein and made a part
hereof, for furnishing said City with certain equipment for
use of said City; and
WHEREAS, at the time fixed for opening and consider-
ing said bids, to wit: the hour of 7:00 o'clock P.M., on Mon-
day the 24th day of September, 1956, said Council did publicly
open, examine and declare all bids received; and did refer the
same to the City Engineer for checking and to report back to
said Council later in said meeting; and
WHEREAS, said City Engineer has reported and recom-
mends that the bid of Cascade Pump Company, the low bidder, be
accepted; and
WHEREAS, said Council concurs in the recommendation
of said City Engineer and has reached its decision in the said
matter;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL
SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE AND DETERMINE AS
FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. That the alternate bid of CASCADE
PUMP COMPANY, of Norwalk, California, dated September 21, 1956,
(the low bid) which said Council determines to be shbstantially
as follows, to wit:
"As an alternate bid, we wish to quote the pump-
ing unit equipped with a 30 H.P., 3 phase, 440
volt, 60 cycle rise, 1160 RPM, weatherproof
vertical solid shaft motor of General Electric or
U. S. Electric manufacture. It has been our experi-
ence that this type motor is completely satisfactory
for.outside installation unless excessive moisture
is present. Your cost for the pump unit and acces-
sories, as quoted, with a 30 H.P. vertical solid
shaft motor would be $2,257.66, including all appli-
cable taxes and with freight allowed to E1 Segundo,
California,"
and which said bid was submitted in response to and under the
terms, conditions, provisions and requirements set forth in said
"NOTICE INVITING BIDS ON STORM WATER PUMPING UNITS,„ be and the
same is hereby accepted for one new storm water pumping unit as
set forth in said notice inviting bids, at the bid price of
$2,257.66, including all applicable taxes and with freight allowed
to El Segundo, California, and the contract or purchase order for
said equipment is hereby awarded to said CASCADE PUMP COMPANY,
accordingly. In the event that immediate delivery of said equip-
ment can be made, a purchase order may be issued therefor, and
in such case it will not be necessary to execute and deliver a
formal contract. Said bid is now on file in the office of the
City Clerk of said City, and said bid so on file is hereby ex-
pressly referred to and by this reference incorporated herein
and made a part hereof for all further particulars.
SECTION 2. That all bids received under said notice
inviting bids, with the exception of the said bid of CASCADE
PUMP COMPANY, be and the same are hereby rejected; and the City
Clerk is hereby authorized and instructed to return the checks
of all unsuccessful bidders.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the

passage and adoption of this resolution; shall
original of the same to be entered in the book
of the said City of E1 Segundo, and shall make
passage and adoption thereof in the records of

at which the same is passed and adopted.

California, do hereby certify that the whole number of members of
the City Council of the said City is five; that the foregoing
Resolution being Resolution No. 1661 was passed and adopted by
the said City Council, approved and signed by the Mayor of said
City, and attested by the City Clerk of said City, all at a regu-
lar meeting of the said Council held on the 24th day of September,
1956, and that the same was so passed and adopted by the follow-
ing vote:
AYES: Councilmen Baker Frederick, Gordon, Meschuk
and Me. or Benfield;
NOES: Councilmen None;
ABSENT: Councilmen None.
