A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, GRANTING A CERTAIN VARI-
ANCE, SUBJECT TO CERTAIN CONDITIONS, PURSUANT TO
THE APPLICATION OF SEBASTIAN P. EGER AND SALVATORE
J. MAIETTA, DBA AERO GRINDING COMPANY,FROM THE
DECISION RENDERED BY THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION
IN ITS RESOLUTION NO. 256.
WHEREAS, Sebastian P. Eger and Salvatore J. Maietta, dba Aero Grind-
ing Company, did heretofore apply to the City Planning Commission of the City
of El Segundo, California, for the variance hereinafter referred to under the
provisions of Ordinance No. 434 (The Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance) of said
City; and
WHEREAS, said Commission after duly processing the said application
did by its Resolution No. 256 deny said variance; and
WHEREAS, said applicants did within the time permitted in said
Ordinance No. 434 duly and regularly appeal to the City Council of said City
from the decision of said Planning Commission in said matter; and
WHEREAS, said Council has duly processed the matter of said appeal
before said Council as contemplated under the provisions of said Ordinance No.
434, and has reached its decision in said matter, as hereinafter set forth;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALI-
FORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, FIND, DECLARE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council hereby finds and determines:
(1) That there are exceptional or extraordinary circumstances or con-
ditions applicable to the property or to the intended use that do not apply
generally to the other property or class of use in the same vicinity and zone.
(2) That such variance is necessary for the preservation and enjoyment
of a substantial property right possessed by other property in the same vi-
cinity and zone but which is denied to the property in question.
(3) That the granting of such variance will not be materially detri-
mental to the public welfare or injurious to the property or improvements
in such vicinity and zone in which the property is located.
(4) That the granting of such variance will not adversely affect the
comprehensive general plan.
SECTION 2. That the City Council does hereby overrule the action
and decision of the City Planning Commission of the City of E1 Segundo taken and
made in its Resolution No. 256, adopted on the 18th day of April, 1956.
SECTION 3. That the said Council does hereby grant the following
variance, to wit: A variance to allow a precision grinding service in a
C -2 Zone on the following described property situated in the City of E1 Se-
gundo, County of Los Angeles, State of California, to wit:
Lots 15 and 16, Block 21, El Segundo Sheet No. 1, as per map recorded
in Book 18, Page 69 of Maps, on file in the office of the Recorder
of said County and State (being located at No. 215 Richmond Street,
within said City),
subject to the following conditions:
(1) That said business or establishment have not more than two (2)
grinding machines in said premises; and
(2) That said business or establishment shall not expand beyond its
present floor area at its present location.
SECTION 4. That this resolution shall take effect immediately.
SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and
adoption of this resolution, shall enter the same in the book of original
resolutions of said City; shall forward a copy of the same to the City Plan-
ning Commission for its information and files; and shall also forward a copy
of the same to said applicants as evidence of the granting of the variance
hereinabove described.

of the City Council of the said City is five; that the fore-
going resolution, being Resolution No. 1653, was duly passed
and adopted by the said City Council, approved and signed by
the Mayor of said City and attested by the City Clerk of said
City, all at a regular meeting of the said Council held on
the 27th day of August, 1956, and that the same was so passed and
adopted by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Baker, Frederick, Gordon, Meschuk and
Mayor Benfield;
NOES: Councilmen None;
ABSENT: Councilmen None.
