RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 1636.
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING ITS INTEN-
TION TO ORDER THE CONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN IM-
PROVEMENTS IN ILLINOIS STREET, PINE AVENUE AND
OTHER STREETS IN SAID CITY; DECLARING THE WORK
TO BE OF MORE THAN LOCAL OR ORDINARY PUBLIC
BENEFITE AND DESCRIBING THE DISTRICT TO BE
BENEFITED BY SAID WORK AND TO PAY THE COSTS
AND EXPENSES, AND FIXING THE TIME AND PLACE
OF HEARING OBJECTIONS TO SAID WORK
The City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, pursuant to
the provisions of the „Improvement Act of 1911„, being Division 7
of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, DOES
RESOLVE as follows:
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
SECTION 1. That the public interest and convenience re-
quire, and it is the intention of the City Council of the City of
E1 Segundo, California, to order the following work to be done,
to wit:
First: The grading, paving with asphaltic concrete, construe-
tion of cement concrete sidewalks, curbs and driveway approaches,
and appurtenant work in connection therewith; in
PINE AVENUE
between Indiana Street and a line 32 feet westerly from the center
line of Illinois Street; and in
ILLINOIS STREET
between the south line of Mariposa Avenue and a line 32 feet south
of the center line of Pine Avenue, as shown on Sheets 3 and 4 of
the plans hereinafter referred to.
Second: The grading, paving with asphaltic concrete, con-
struction of cement concrete sidewalks and curbs, and appurtenant
work in connection therewith; in the westerly 25 feet of
INDIANA STREET
between lines 32 feet northerly and 32 feet southerly from the

produced center line of Pine Avenue; and in the southerly 7 feet
of
MARIPOSA AVENUE
between lines 32 feet westerly and 32 feet easterly from the pro-
duced center line of Illinois Street, as shown on Sheets 3 and 4
of said plans.
Third: The construction o£ vitrified clay pipe sanitary
sewer, reconnect existing house laterals to new sewer, reconstruct
manhole, removal of existing sewer line, and appurtenant work in
connection therewith; in
HOLLY AVENUE
between the center line of Illinois Street and the center line of
Indiana Street, as shown on Sheet 5 of said plans.
Fourth: The construction of vitrified clay pipe sanitary
sewers, house connection sewers, manholes and appurtenant work in
connection therewith; in
INDIANA STREET
between the center line of Grand Avenue and a point distant 400
feet northerly from the center line of Pine Avenue; and in
GRAND AVENUE
between the center line of Indiana Street and Sepulveda Boulevard;
and in the westerly side of
SEPULVEDA BOULEVARD
between the produced center line of Grand Avenue and a point dis-
tant 400 feet northerly therefrom; and in
ILLINOIS STREET
between the center line of Holly Avenue and a point distant 350
feet northerly from the center line of Pine Avenue; and in
PINE AVENUE
between the center line of Indiana Street and a point distant 260
feet westerly therefrom, as shown on Sheets 6 to 9, inclusive of
said plans.

PLANS PROFILES DRAWINGS, AND
9PECIFICAHONS
SECTION 2. That all of the said work and improvement to
be done shall be constructed upon the grades, along the lines, be-
tween the points, of the dimensions, at the places and in the man-
ner shown on the plans, profiles and drawings for the construction
of said improvements in Illinois Street, Pine Avenue and other
streets, being Plan and Profile No. 560324, Sheets 3 to 9, inclu-
sive, and Standard Street Drawing No. 550000, all on file in the
office of the City Engineer of said city and except as otherwise
provided on said plans, in further accordance with Specifications
No. 560324, being on file in the office of the City Clerk of said
city and to which plans, profiles, drawings and specifications
heretofore approved by the City Council of said city reference is
hereby made for a further, full and more particular description of
said work and by reference thereto, the same are incorporated here-
in and made a part hereof.
PROFILE GRADES
SECTION 3. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the work of
grading said streets in many instances will bring the finished
grade to a different one which now exists in portions of said
streets, and such difference in new grade is shown on the profiles
attached to the plans and to which reference is hereby made for the
finished grade of the improvement of said streets.
DESCRIPTION OF ASSESSMENT DISTRICT
SECTION 4. That the said contemplated work and improve-
ment, in the opinion of the said City Council, is of more than
local or ordinary public benefit and the said City Council hereby
makes the expenses of the said work and improvement chargeable
upon a district, which said district the said City Council hereby
declares to be the district benefited by said work and improvement
and to be assessed to pay the costs and expenses thereof, and which
district is described as follows:

All that certain territory in the City of E1 Segundo,
California, exclusive of streets and alleys, included within the
exterior boundary line shown upon that certain map or plat, being
Sheets 1 and 2 of Plan No. 560324, heretofore approved by the City
Council of said city on the 9th day of July, 1956, indicating by
said boundary line the extent of the territory included within the
proposed assessment district, and which map or plat is on file in
the office of the City Engineer of said city. Reference is hereby
made to said map or plat for a further, full and more particular
description of said assessment district, and the said map or plat
so on file shall govern for all details as to the extent of the
said assessment district.
DESCRIPTION OF BONDS
SECTION 5. That serial bonds, bearing interest at the
rate of six per cent (6%) per annum, shall be issued to represent
each assessment of Twenty -five dollars ($25.00) or more remaining
unpaid for thirty (30) days after the date of recording the war-
rant. Said serial bonds shall extend over a period ending nine
(9) years from the second day of January next succeeding the next
October 15th following their date. Payments on the principal of
unpaid assessments and interest thereon shall be made by property
owners to the City Treasurer, all as provided in the "Improvement
Act of 1911 ", hereinafter referred to.
PORTION OF COSTS AND EXPENSES TO BE PAID
BY CITY
SECTION 6. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council
of the City of E1 Segundo has determined and declared that the city
will pay out of its Sewerage Facilities Fund the sum of $5,416.74
for sewer construction. The liability and obligation to pay such
sum as provided herein shall accrue and become fixed upon the date
of the confirmation of the assessment by the City Council of said
City.

TIME AND PLACE OF HEARING
SECTION 7. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 13th day
of August, 1956, at the hour of seven o'clock (7 :00) P. M., in
the chambers of the City Council in the City Hall of said city,
any and all persons having any objections to the proposed work or
improvement, or to the extent of the assessment district, or to
the proposed grades, may appear and show cause why said work should
not be done or carried out in accordance with this Resolution of
Intention. Protests must be in writing and must be delivered to
the City Clerk prior to the time set for the hearing.
IMPROVEMENT ACT
SECTION 8. That all of the work herein proposed shall
be done and carried through in purusance of an act of the legis-
lature of the State of California, designated the "Improvement
Act of 1911", being Division 7 of the Streets and Highways Code
of the State of California.
PUBLICATION OF RESOLUTION OF INTENTION
SECTION 9. That the "E1 Segundo Herald", a weekly news-
paper published and of general circulation in the City of El Se-
gundo, California, is hereby designated as the newspaper in which
this Resolution of Intention shall be published by the City Clerk,
in the manner and form provided by law, and for making all other
publications in the proceedings under this Resolution of Intention.
The City Clerk is directed to mail notices of the adop-
tion of this Resolution of Intention to all persons owning real
property proposed to be assessed, whose names and addresses ap-
pear on the last equalized assessment roll for city taxes, all in
the manner and form provided for under Sections 5070, 5194 and 5195
of the said "Improvement Act of 1911" of said Streets and Highways
Code.
POSTING OF NOTICE OF IMPROVEMENT
SECTION 10. That the Superintendent of Streets of the
City of E1 Segundo shall cause to be conspicuously posted along

the line of said contemplated work or improvement and along all
open streets within the district liable to be assessed for said
work, notices of the passage of this Resolution of Intention in
the time, form and manner provided by said Code.
ESTIMATED COSTS AND EXPENSES
SECTION 11. That the estimated costs and expenses of
said improvement, inclusive of incidental expenses of the pro-
ceedings under this Resolution of Intention, is the sum of $4$,880.15.
SECTION 12. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in
the book of resolutions of said city, and shall make a minute of
the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings
of the City Council of said city in the minutes of the meeting at
which the same is passed and adopted.
