RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EL SEGUNDO CALIFORNIA, DECLARING ITS
INTENTION TO 6RDER CERTAIN CHANGES, ADDI-
TIONS AND /OR MODIFICATIONS IN THE WORK TO
BE DONE AS DESCRIBED IN RESOLUTION OF IN-
TENTION NO. 1610 IN THE MATTER OF THE IM-
PROVEMENT OF EUCALYPTUS DRIVE AND OTHER
STREETS.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, did on the 14th day of May, 1956, adopt its Resolu-
tion of Intention No. 1610 for the grading, paving and construc-
tion of sidewalks in Eucalyptus Drive between the north line of
Maple Avenue and the south line of Imperial Highway, as shown on
Sheets 3 and 4 of Plan and Profile No. 550617 on file in the of-
fice of the City Engineer of said City; and
WHEREAS, the said City Council did on the 14th day of
May, 1956, approve the plans and specifications for the improve-
ments above referred to; and
WHEREAS, on the 25th day of June, 1956, at the hearing
under said Resolution of Intention, considerable evidence was
presented to the City Council objecting to the location of the
sidewalk as being contiguous to the property as shown on said
plans; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer, following considerable dis-
cussion, recommended that the location of the sidewalk be changed
leaving a park area between the curb and the outer edge of the
sidewalk a distance of 4.50 feet, and which relocation appeared to
meet the approval of a majority of the property owners appearing
before the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the relocation of said sidewalk will necessi-
tate the removal of $36 square feet of existing sidewalk and 420
square feet of existing concrete driveways; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer also reported that the City
should increase its contribution as aid to the project in a sum

equal to cover the costs and expenses of such removal and relo-
cation of sidewalk and driveways; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the
said plans should be modified to conform with the recommendations
of the City Engineer at the hearing June 25, 1956, and that said
Resolution of Intention No. 1610 and all subsequent proceedings
be
had or taken thereunder /modified to conform to said recommenda-
tions; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Sections 5231,
5232 and 5233 of the "Improvement Act of 1911 ", being Division 7
of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, the
legislative body may at any time before the confirmation of the
assessment make changes in the work proposed to be done, or any
act, determination or provisions made, or permitted to be made by
the legislative body purusant to said Division 7;
NOW, THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SE-
GUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY DECLARE, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the public interest and convenience
require, and it is the intention of the said City Council, pro-
ceeding under the provisions of Sections 5231, 5232 and 5233 of
said "Improvement Act of 1911 ", to order certain changes, addi-
tions and /or modifications in the plans, Resolution of Intention
and all subsequent proceedings had or taken thereunder, as follows:
(a) To remove 836 square feet of existing sidewalk on
the west side of said Eucalyptus Drive immediately
north of the north line of Maple Avenue and remove
and reconstruct 420 square feet of existing cement
concrete driveways made necessary by the relocation
of the sidewalk described in the next paragraph
hereof.

(b) To change and relocate the sidewalk on both sides of
Eucalyptus Drive between the north line of Maple Avenue
and the south line of Imperial Highway to the location
as recommended by the City Engineer hereinabove de-
scribed.
SECTION 2. That pursuant to the authority vested in the
City Council of the City of E1 Segundo under the provisions of Sec-
tions 5375 and 5551 of the "Improvement Act of 1911 ". Division 7 of
the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, the City
Council does hereby determine and declare that the said City of E1
Segundo shall contribute out of its general fund $1,111.25 as aid
toward the payment of the costs, including its portion of the in-
cidental expenses, for the removal and reconstruction of the side-
walk and driveways as described in paragraph "(a)" of Section 1
hereof, and that such aid shall be in addition to the aid set forth
in Section 6 of the said Resolution of Intention No. 1610.
SECTION 3. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 23rd day
of July, 1956, at the hour of seven - thirty o'clock (7;30) P. M.,
a hearing will be held in the chambers of the City Council in the
City Hall of the City of E1 Segundo, California, on the matter of
the intention of said City Council to make certain changes and /or
modifications in said plans, and Resolution of Intention No. 1610,
adopted by said City Council on the 14th day of May, 1956, as above
set forth. Any and all persons, having any objections to the pro-
posed changes, additions and /or modifications must file written
objections as to why said changes, additions and /or modifications
should not be made and carried out in accordance with this reso-
lution. All written objections to the proposed changes, additions,
and /or modifications must be filed with the City Clerk of the City
of E1 Segundo by any interested persons at or before the time set
for the hearing.
SECTION 4. That the City Clerk be, and she is hereby in-
structed to publish this resolution and notice by one insertion
