RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, PROVIDING FOR A CON-
TRIBUTION TO THE SPECIAL ASSESSMENT DISTRICT
FOR THE GRADING AND PAVING OF MAPLE AVENUE
BETWEEN CENTER. STREET AND SEPULVEDA BOULEVARD
IN THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AS PER
RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 1616, ADOPTED MAY
14., 1956.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of El Segundo,
California, did on the 14th day of May, 1956, adopt its Resolu-
tion of Intention No. 1616 £or the grading and paving with as-
phaltic concrete and otherwise improving Maple Avenue between
Center Street and Sepulveda Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, the proceedings for the construction of said
improvements under said Resolution of Intention No. 1616 have been
initiated pursuant to the provisions of "Improvement Act of 191111,
being Division % of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of
California; and
WHEREAS, the said Resolution of Intention in Section 6
thereof provided for a contribution from the general fund of said
city in the sum of 0'1,349.60 to cover the costs and expenses of
the removal and replacement of certain improvements; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of said City of El Segundo has
heretofore determined by Resolution No. 828, adopted May 15, 1946,
that Maple Avenue between Main Street and Sepulveda Boulevard was
of major importance to all of the inhabitants of the City of E1
Segundo; and
WHEREAS, it is now the opinion of the City Council that
the grading and paving of said portion of said Maple Avenue between
Center Street and Sepulveda Boulevard under said Resolution of In-
tention No. 1616 provides a public benefit apart from the benefit
to the special assessment district described in said Resolution
of Intention No. 1616 by reason of the fact that said portion of

Maple Avenue having heretofore been determined by this City Council
as being of major importance to the City of E1 Segundo, and that
the said special assessment district for the improvement of said
portion of Maple Avenue under said Resolution of Into tion Plo.
1616 should be further aided with a cash contribution for such
public benefit;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of El Segundo, California, as follows:
SECTION 1. That pursuant to the authority vested in the
City Council of the City of E1 Segundo under the provisions of

Sections5375/of the "Improvement Act of 191111, Division 7 of the
Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, the City
Council does hereby determine and declare that the said City of
El Segundo shall contribute out of its general fund of said city
the sum of 46,000.00 as aid toward the payment of the costs of
grading and paving of said portion of Nlaple Avenue between Center
Street and Sepulveda Boulevard, as particularly described in said
Resolution of Intention No. 1616, and that the payment of said sum
of X6,000.00 shall accrue and become fixed upon the date of con-
firmation of the assessment for the construction of all improve-
ments in said portion of Nlaple Avenue and other streets under said
Resolution of Intention No. 1616.
SECTION 2. That the Superintendent of Streets of said
City of E1 Segundo be, and he is, hereby instructed to credit the
assessment hereafter determined to be proper for the improvements
under Resolution of Intention No. 1616 with the sum of ,jp6,000.00
in addition to the sum of ;'1,349.60 set forth as aid in said Reso-
lution of Intention, and that the balance of said costs and ex-
penses be assessed upon the assessment district described in said
Resolution of Intention No. 1616.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in

the book of original resolutions of said city; and shall make a
minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the
proceedings of the City Council of said city, in the minutes of
the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
