A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, ASCERTAINING AND
DETERMINING PREVAILING RATES OF WAGE TO BE
PAID ON PUBLIC WORKS IN THE CITY OF EL SE-
GUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AND REPEALING RESOLUTION
NO. 1520.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 1773
of the Labor Code of the State of California, it is necessary
that the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo ascertain and
determine the general prevailing rates of wage on public works;
and by the provisions of said Code, it is mandatory upon the
awarding body of any public improvement to ascertain and deter-
mine the general prevailing rates of per diem wage in the lo-
cality in which the work is to be performed, for each craft or
type of workman or mechanic needed to execute the contracts
awarded in said city for public works, and also the general pre-
vailing rates for legal holidays and overtime work for each
craft or type of workman and mechanic;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of E1 Se-
gundo has ascertained and does hereby determine that the general
prevailing rates of per diem wage in the City of E1 Segundo (the
locality in which work is to be performed) in the matter of pub-
lic works for each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed
to execute the contracts for said works, and also the general
prevailing rates for legal holidays and overtime work for each
craft or type of workman or mechanic, to be as follows:

All foremen not herein separately classified shall be paid not
less than 25 cents per hour more than the highest classifica-
tion over which he has jurisdiction.

Provided that one and one -half (1 -1/2) times the said
prevailing rate of wage shall be paid for any time more than
eight (8) hours during any one (1) calendar day where such work
is required in case of extraordinary emergency caused by fire,
flood or danger to life or porperty and for time on Sundays and
seven (`]) legal holidays, to wit: New Year's Day, Memorial Day,
Fourth of July, Labor Day, Armistice Day, Thanksgiving and Christ-
mas.
That Resolution No. 1520, passed and adopted on the
13th day of July, 1955, shall be and the same is hereby repealed.
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adop-
tion of this resolution; shall enter the same in the Book of Re-
solutions of said city, and shall make a minute of the adoption
thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of
said city in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is
passed and adopted.

1956.
