A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, EMPLOYING
A. S. MONROE, CIVIL ENGINEER, IN AN ADVISORY
CAPACITY AND TERMINATING HIS EMPLOYMENT PUR-
SUANT TO RESOLUTION NO. 910 OF SAID COUNCIL.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, pursuant to Resolution No. 910 of said Council,
approved and adopted December 10, 1947, employed the services
of A. S. Monroe, Civil Engineer, for the purpose of assisting
various officers of said City and for the preparation of reso-
lutions, notices and other proceedings involving construction of
various improvements, the cost of which are to be paid from
special assessments; and
WHEREAS, A. S. Monore, by letter dated November 29,
1955, has requested that the City Council of the City of El Se-
gundo modify the terms and conditions of said A. S. Monroets
employment as hereinabove referred to; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of said City is desirous of
continuing the employment of A. S. Monroe on a modified basis as
set forth in his letter of November 29, 1955;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SE-
GUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND
ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That until the further order of said Coun-
cil repealing this resolution, A. S. Monroe, a civil engineer,
registered under the laws of the State of California, be and he
is hereby employed for the limited purpose of assisting the vari-
ous officers and employees of the said City by reviewing and ap-
proving before submitting to the City Council for its approval
all plans, specifications, resolutions, and other documents

pertaining to improvements undertaken by the City of E1 Segundo
under the provisions of the „Special Assessment Investigation,
Limitation and Majority Protest Act of 1931 "; the "Improvement
Act of 1911 ", of the State of California; and /or any of the other
various improvement acts of said state which are used for the
making of improvements under special assessment proceedings.
SECTION 2. That the total compensation of the said
A. S. Monroe for such services is hereby fixed at an amount equal
to one per cent (1%) of the total construction costs of said re-
spective improvements, exclusive of incidental expenses, which
said compensation shall be included as incidental expenses and
become a charge against the respective assessment districts
formed for said respective improvements.
SECTION 3. That the payment of said compensation shall
become due and payable upon A. S. Monroe's presentation of a
statement for services rendered after confirmation of the assess-
ment in the assessment proceedings to which said statement per-
tains.
SECTION 4. That this resolution shall take effect im-
mediately.
SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in
the book of original resolutions of said City; and shall make a
minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the
proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes of
the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
Passed, approved and adopted this 14th day of December,
1955.

1955, and that the same was so passed and adopted by the following
vote:
AYES: Councilmen Baker, Frederick, Gordon, Swanson,
and Mayor Selby;
NOES: Councilmen None;
ABSENT: Councilmen None.
