A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING
TO WESTATES ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION COM-
PANY A CERTAIN CONTRACT FOR THE INSTALLA-
TION OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS AND HIGHWAY LIGHTING
AT THE INTERSECTIONS OF SEPULVEDA BOULEVARD
WITH MARIPOSA AVENUE AND MAPLE AVENUE, WITHIN
SAID CITY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, has heretofore in the manner provided by law, duly
and regularly advertised for bids under a notice to bidders,en-
titled "NOTICE INVITING BIDS FOR THE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC
SIGNALS AND HIGHWAY LIGHTING AT THE INTERSECTIONS OF SEPULVEDA
BOULEVARD WITH MARIPOSA AVENUE AND MAPLE AVENUE, FOR THE CITY OF
EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA. ", dated March 23, 1955, which is now on
file in the office of the City Clerk, open to public inspection,
and hereby referred to and by this reference incorporated herein
and made a part hereof, for the installation of traffic signals
and highway lighting at the intersections of Sepulveda Boulevard
with Mariposa Avenue and Maple Avenue, within said City, all in
accordance with the City's Specifications, entitled "CITY OF EL
SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, SPECIFICATIONS NO. TC -4 FOR Installation of
Traffic Signals and Highway Lighting at the Intersections of
Sepulveda Boulevard with Mariposa Avenue and Maple Avenue in the
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO"; and
WHEREAS, at the time fixed for opening and considering
said bids, to wit: the hour of 7:00 otclock P. M. on Wednesday,
the 13th day of April, 1955, said Council did publicly open,
examine and declare all bids received; and

WHEREAS, the City Engineer did recommend that the con-
tract be awarded to Westates Electrical Construction Company,
the low bidder; and
WHEREAS, said City Council concurs in the recommenda-
tion of said City Engineer and has reached its decision in the
said matter;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SE-
GUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE AND DETERMINE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the original bid of WESTATES ELECTRI-
CAL CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, a corporation, of $900 Bellanca Avenue,
Los Angeles 45, California, be and the same is hereby accepted
at the price set forth in Item 1 of said bid, which is now on
file in the office of the City Clerk of said City, and which said
bid so on file is hereby expressly referred to and by this refer-
ence incorporated herein and made a part hereof for all further
particulars.
SECTION 2. That the Mayor of said City be, and he is
hereby authorized and instructed to execute the contract herein
awarded for and on behalf of said City and in its name, in form
as approved by the City Attorney; and the City Clerk is hereby
authorized and instructed to attest the said contract, affix the
official seal of said City thereto, and make delivery thereof in
due course.
SECTION 3. That all bids received for said installation
of said traffic signals and highway lighting are hereby rejected
with the exception of the bid of said Westates Electrical Con-
struction Company, and the City Clerk is hereby authorized and
instructed to return the checks of all unsuccessful bidders.
SECTION 4. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause the original
of the same to be entered in the book of resolutions of said City

of El Segundo, and shall make a minute of the passage and adop-
tion thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council
of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is
passed and adopted.
Passed, approved and adopted this 13th day of April,
1955.

resolution, being Resolution No. 1499, was passed and adopted by
the said City Council, approved and signed by the Mayor of said
City, and attested by the City Clerk of said City, all at a re-
gular meeting of the said Council held on the 13th day of April,
1955, and that the same was so passed and adopted by the follow-
ing vote:
AYES: Councilmen Baker, Frederick, Gordon, Swanson
and Mayor Selby;
NOES: Councilmen None;
ABSENT: Councilmen None.
