RESOLUTION NO. 1 �.
ASCERTAINING AND DETERMINING PREVAILING
RATES OF WAGE TO BE PAID FOR FOLLOWING
PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT IN THE CITY OF
EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA
WHEREAS, the City Council did on the 22nd day of
September, 1954 adopt Resolution of Intention No. 1435 for certain
public improvements in Center Street and other streets, and
Resolution of Intention No. 1432 for certain public improvements .
in portions of Sierra Street and other streets and alleys in
Block 37, E1 Segundo Sheet No. 7, and Resolution of Intention No. 1437
for the construction of certain street improvements in portions of
Standard Street and Franklin Avenue in the City of E1 Segundo,
California; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 1773 of
the Labor Code of the State of California, it is necessary that the
City Council of the City of El Segundo ascertain and determine the
general prevailing rates of wage on public works; and by the provisions
of said Code, it is mandatory upon the awarding body of any public
improvement to ascertain and determine the general prevailing rates
of per diem wage in the locality in which the work is to be performed,
for each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed to execute the
contract, and also the general prevailing rates for legal holidays
and overtime work for each craft or type of workman and mechanic.
NO4, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of El Segundo
has ascertained and does hereby determine that the general prevailing
rates of per diem wage in the locality in which the said work is to
be performed, in the matter of certain public improvements of said
streets, all in the City of EL Segundo, California, for each craft
or type of workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract, and
also the general prevailing rates for legal holidays and overtime
work for each craft or type of workman or mechanic, to be as follows:

All foremen not herein separately classified shall be
paid not less than 17 -1/2 cents per hour more than the highest
classification over which he has jurisdiction.
Provided that one and one -half (ls) times the said
prevailing rate of wage shall be paid for any time more than eight
(8) hours during any one (1) calendar day where such work is
required in case of extraordinary emergency caused by fire,
flood or danger to life or property and for time on Sundays and
seven (7) legal holidays, to wit: New Year's Day, Memorial Day,
Fourth of July, Labor Day, Armistice Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption
of this resolution; shall enter the same in the Book of Resolutions
of said city, and shall make a minute of the adoption thereof in
the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said city in
the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
