RESOLUTION OF INTENTION
NO. 1435
RESOLUTION OF TEE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING
ITS INTENTION TO ORDER THE, CONSTRUCTION
OF CERTAIN STREET INTROVEMENTS AND SANITARY
SEWERS IN PORTIONS OF CENTER STREET AND
OTHER STREETS AND EASEMENT IN SAID CITY;
DECLARING THE A&K TO BE OF MORE THAN LOCAL
OR ORDINARY PUBLIC BENEFIT AND DESCRIBING
THE DISTRICT TO BE BENEFITED BY SAID WORK
AND TO PAY THE COSTS AND EXPENSES, AND
FIXING THE TIME AND PLACE OF HEARING
OBJECTIONS TO SAID WORK.
The City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, pursuant to
the provisions of the "Improvement Act of 1911'x, being Division 7 of
the Streets and highways Code of the State of California, DOES RESOLVE
as follows:
DESCRIPTION OF T&K
SECTION 1. That the public interest and convenience require,
and it is the intention of the City Council of the City of El Segundo,
California, to order the following work to be done, to wit:
First: The grading, paving with asphaltic concrete pavement,
re- surfacing existing pavement with asphaltic concrete, construction
of cement concrete curbs, cement concrete sidewalks, cement concrete
driveway approaches or aprons, and appurtenant work in connection
therewith; in
CENTER STREET
between the Northerly line of Grand Avenue and the Southerly line of
Mariposa Avenue, except between the rails, between the tracks and for
2 feet each side thereof of the Pacific Electric Railway Company tracks,
as shown on Sheets 3 and 4 of the plans hereinafter referred to.
Second: The grading, paving with asphaltic concrete pavement,
re- surfacing existing pavement with asphaltic concrete, construction
of cement concrete curbs, cement concrete sidewalks, and appurtenant
work in connection therewith; in

GRAM AVENUE
between lines 40 feet Easterly and 40 feet Westerly from the produced
center line of Center Street, as shown on Sheet No. 3 of said plans.
Third: The grading, paving with asphaltic concrete pavement,
re— surfacing existing pavement with asphaltic concrete, construction
of cement concrete curbs, and appurtenant work in connection therewith;
in
PINE AVENUE
between the ;esterly line of Center Street and a line 10 feet Westerly
from and parallel therewith, as shown on Sheet No. 4 of said plans.
Fourth: The re— surfacing with asphaltic concrete and
appurtenant week in connection therewith; in the Southerly 9 feet of
MARIPOSA AVENUE
between the produced Easterly and Westerly lines of Center Street,
as shown on Sheet No. 4 of said plans.
Fifth: The grading, paving with asphaltic concrete pavement,
construction of cement concrete curbs, cement concrete sidewalks,
cement concrete driveway approaches or aprons, and appurtenant %o rk
in connection therewith; in
OPMON STREET
between the Southerly line of Mariposa Avenue and the Northerly line
of Pine Avenue.
Sixth: The grading, paving with asphaltic concrete pavement,
construction of cement concrete curbs, cement concrete sidewalks,
and appurtenant work in connection therewith; in the Northerly 9 feet of
PINE AVENUE
between lines 32 feet Easterly and 32 feet Westerly from the produced
center line of Oregon Street, as shown on Sheet 6 of said plans.
Seventh: The construction of vitrified clay pipe sanitary
sewers, vitrified clay pipe house connection sewers, manholes, and
appurtenant work in connection therewith; in

CENTER STREET
between the center line of Grand Avenue and a point distant
250 feet North of the center line of Holly Avenue, as shown
on Sheet No. 5 of said plans; and in
OREGON STREET
between the center line of Pine Avenue and a point distant
300 feet Northerly therefrom,, as shown on Sheet No. 7 of said plans.
Eighth: The construction of vitrified clay pipe sanitary
sewers, manholes, and appurtenant work in connection therewith;
in

between the produced center line of Oregon Street and the
Northeasterly line of the right —of —way of the Pacific Electric
Railway Company, as shown on Sheet 8 of said plans; and in
that certain public
EASEgENT
as described in Book 115097, Page 380, Official Records of
Los Angeles County, California, being along the Northeasterly side
of said Railway right —of —Tray, between the produced center line of
Pine Avenue and the Easterly side of Center Street, as shown on
Sheet No. 8 of said plans; and in
CENTER STREET
between said easement and a point distant 175 feet Northerly
therefrom, connecting with an existing manhole in said Center Street,
as shown on Sheet No. 8 of said plans.
PLANS, PROFILES, DRAWINGS
AND SPECIFICATIONS
SECTION 2. That all of the said work and improvement to be
done shall be constructed upon the grades, along the lines, between
the points, of the dimensions, at the places and in the manner shown
on the plans, profiles and drawings for the construction of said
improvement in portions of Center Street and other streets and easement,
being Plan and Profile No. 540616, Sheets Nos. 3 to 8 inclusive, and

Standard Plans Nos. SD- 520709 and ST- 520610, all on file in the
office of the City Engineer of said city and except as otherwise
provided on said plans, in further accordance with Specifications
No. 11t0616pbeing on file in the office of the City Clerk of said
city and to which plans, profiles, drawings and specifications
heretofore approved by the City Council of said city reference is
hereby made for a further, full and more particular description
of said work and by reference thereto, the same are incorporated
herein and made a part hereof.
DESCRIPTION OF ASSESS',:rte, tT DISTRICT
SECTION 3. That the said contemplated work and improvement,
in the opinion of the said City Council, is of more than local or
ordinary public benefit and the said City Council hereby makes the
expenses of the said work and improvement chargeable upon a district,
which said district the said City Council hereby declares to be
the district benefited by said work and improvement and to be assessed
to pay the costs and expenses thereof, and which district is described
as follows:
All that certain territory in the City of El Segundo, California.,
exclusive of streets and alleys, included within the exterior boundary
line shown upon that certain map or plat, being Sheets Nos. 1 and 2
of Plan No. 540616, heretofore approved by the City Council of said
city on the 22nd day of September , 1954, indicating by said
boundary line the extent of the territory included within the proposed
assessment district, and which map or plat is on file in the office
of the City Engineer of said city. Reference is hereby made to said
map or plat for a further, full and more particular description of
said assessment district, and the said map or plat so on file shall
govern for all details as to the extent of the said assessment district.
DESCRIPTIO14 OF BONDS
SECTION 4. That serial bonds, bearing interest at the rate
of six per cent (6 %) per annum, shall be issued to represent each

assessment of Twenty —five dollars (?x,25.00) or more remaining unpaid
for thirty (30) days after the date of recording the warrant.
Said serial bonds shall extend over a period ending nine (9) years
from the second day of January next succeeding the next October 15th
following their date. Payments on the principal. of unpaid assessments
and interest thereon shall be made by property owners to the city
Treasurer, all as provided in the 11 Improvement Act of 1.91111, herein-
after referred to.
PORTION OF COSTS AND EXPENSES
TO BE PAID. BY CITY
SECTION 5. NOTICE IS HEPJ,,BY GIVEN that the City Council
of the City of E1 Segundo has determined and declared that the City
will pay out of its General Fund the sum of $G1137.00 toward the costs
and expenses of the work or improvement. The liability and obligation
to pay such sum as provided herein shall accrue and become fixed upon
the date of the confirmation of the assessment by the City Council
of said city.
TIME AND PLACE OF HEARING
SECTION 6. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 27th day
of October- , 1954, at the hour of seven— thirty o'clock (7:30)
P.Y*, in the chambers of the City Council in the City Hall of said
City, any and all persons having any objections to the proposed work
or improvement, or to the extent of the assessment district, or to
the proposed grades, may appear and show cause why said work should
not be done or carried out in accordance with this Resolution of
Intention. Protests must be in writing and must be delivered to the
City Clerk prior to the time set for the hearing.
RIPROVMMT ACT
SECTION 7. That all of the work herein proposed shall be
done and carried through in pursuance of an act of the legislature
of the State of California., designated the "Improvement Act of 1911 ",
being Division 7 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of
California.

PUBLICATION OF RESOLUTION OF INT MION
SECTION 8. That the "El Segundo Herald°, a weekly
newspaper published and of general circulation in the City of
E1 Segundo, California, is hereby designated as the newspaper in
which this Resolution of Intention shall be published by the City
Clerk, in the manner and form provided by law, and for making all
other publications in the proceedings under this Resolution of
Intention.
The City Clerk is directed to mail notices of the adoption
of this Resolution of Intention to all persons owning real property
proposed to be assessed, whose names and addresses appear on the
last equalized assessment roll for city taxes, all in the manner
and form provided for under Sections 5070, 5194 and 5195 of the said
°Improvement Act of 1911° of said Streets and Highways Code.
POSTING OF NOTICE OF I102PROVILENT
SECTION 9. That the Superintendent of Streets of the City
of E1 Segundo shall cause to be conspicuously posted along the line
of said contemplated work or improvement and along all open streets
within the district liable to be assessed for said work, notices of
the passage of this Resolution of Intention in the time, form and
manner provided by said Code.
SECTION 10. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in
the book of resolutions of said city, and shall make a minute of the
passage aid adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of
the City Council of said city in the minutes of the meeting at which
the same is passed and adopted.
