CC RESOLUTION 1415RESOLUTION NO. 1415 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING TO PEER- LESS PUMP DIVISION, FOOD MACHINERY AND CHEMI- CAL CORPORATION A CERTAIN CONTRACT OR ORDER FOR THE FURNISHING OF TWO SEWAGE PUMPING UNITS TO SAID CITY. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, has heretofore in the manner provided by law, duly and regularly advertised for bids under a notice to bidders en- titled "NOTICE INVITING BIDS ON SEWAGE PUMPING UNITS.", dated May 26, 1954, which is now on file in the office of the City Clerk, open to public inspection, and hereby referred to and by this reference incorporated herein and made a part hereof, for furnishing said City with certain equipment for use of said City; and WHEREAS, at the time fixed for opening and considering said bids, to wit: the hour of 7:00 o'clock p.m. (California Daylight Saving Time), on Wednesday, the 16th day of June, 1954, said Council did publicly open, examine and declare all bids re- ceived and did take all of said bids under advisement until its next regular meeting to be held June 23, 1954, and referred the same to the City Engineer for checking and recommendation; and WHEREAS, said last mentioned date has now arrived and said City Engineer has recommended to said Council that PEERLESS PUMP DIVISION Food Machinery and Chemical Corporation, the low bidder under said notice inviting bids, be awarded the contract or order for furnishing said City with two new Sewage Pumping Units; and WHEREAS, said Council concurs in the report and recom- mendation of said City Engineer and has reached its decision in the said matter; - 1 - r w NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SE- GUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE AND DETERMINE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the bid of PEERLESS PUMP DIVISION Food Machinery and Chemical Corporation, of Los Angeles, California, dated June 14, 1954, (the low bid) which said Council determines to be substantially as follows, to wit: "June 14, 1954 "To the Honorable City Council City of E1 Segundo E1 Segundo, California "Honorable Sirs: "In accordance with your specifications, with two small exceptions as noted below, we are pleased to quote you on the following Peerless sewage pumps as follows: "We will furnish: Two (2) - 5" x 6" x 3 -11$" L type NCV Peerless vertical nonclog pump, using two port cast iron impellers, full ball bearings, pedestal mounted pumps, complete with WV 27 flexible drive shafts complete with flanges, together with: Two (2) - 25 HP 220 volt 3 phase 60 cycle 1160 RPM US vertical solid shaft totally enclosed fan cooled normal thrust ball bearing special moisture and acid treated insulated motor. "price of all of the above quoted equipment f.o.b. E1 Se- gundo and including, California State Sales Tax . . 43,002.21. We enclose cashiers check for x¢310.00, being in excess of 10% of the gross amount of our bid. "The first exception we take is that the motors will be 550 Centigrade rated instead of 400 Centigrade rated motors as 550 is standard NEMA standards for totally enclosed fan cooled motors. "The second exception is that we cannot keep our increase in capacity within 5% when operating on a 91 lower head than the established working point. This is clearly shown on the attached curve. "The above exceptions are minor and should not affect the practical operation and performance of these units. "Shipment can be made in ten (10) weeks from date of re- ceipt of order. "The pumps could be considered made in California although some parts are made in our Indianapolis factory. The Elec- tric Motors are all made in California. - 2 - "We attach hereto performance curve No. 2$12505. We also attach motor data sheets supplied by the motor manufacturer. Schlegel Field Engineer ". s and which said bid was submitted in response to and under the terms, conditions, provisions and requirements set forth in said "NOTICE INVITING BIDS ON SEWAGE PUMPING UNITS. ", be and the same is hereby accepted for two new sewage pumping units as set forth in said notice inviting bids, at the bid price of X3,002.21, including California State Sales Tax, and the contract or purchase order for said equipment is hereby awarded to said PEERLESS PUMP DIVI- SION Food Machinery and Chemical Corporation, accordingly. In the event that immediate delivery of said equipment can be made, a purchase order may be issued therefor, and in such case it will not be necessary to execute and deliver a formal contract. Said bid is now on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City, and said bid so on file is hereby expressly referred to and by this reference incorporated herein and made a part hereof for all further particulars. SECTION 2. That all bids received under said notice inviting bids, with the exception of the said bid of PEERLESS PUMP DIVISION Food Machinery and Chemical Corporation, be and the same are hereby rejected; and the City Clerk is hereby authorized and instructed to return the checks of all unsuccessful bidders. - 3 - A68' SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause the original of the same to be entered in the book of resolutions of the said City of E1 Segundo, and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
