RESOLUTION NO. 1403.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING
TO IRA E. ESCOBAR A CERTAIN CONTRACT OR
ORDER FOR THE FURNISHING OF ONE NEW DUMP
TRUCK CHASSIS TO SAID CITY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of El Segundo,
California, has heretofore in the manner provided by law, duly
and regularly advertised for bids under a notice to bidders
entitled „NOTICE INVITING BIDS ON AUTOMOTIVE EQUIPMENT - PURCHASE
AND SALE", dated March 31, 1954, which is now on file in the
office of the City Clerk, open to public inspection, and hereby
referred to and by this reference incorporated herein and made
a part hereof, for furnishing said City with certain automotive
equipment for use of said City; and
WHEREAS, at the time fixed for opening and considering
said bids, to wit: the hour of 7:00 o'clock p.m., on Wednesday,
the 21st day of April, 1954, said Council did publicly open,
examine and declare all bids received and did refer all of said
bids to the City Administrative Officer for study and to report
to said Council at its next regular meeting to be held April 28,
1954; and
WHEREAS, said last mentioned date has now arrived and
said Administrative Officer has reported and recommends to said
Council that Ira E. Escobar, the low bidder on Item No. 2 (one
new Dump Truck Chassis) under said notice inviting bids, be
awarded the contract for furnishing said City with one new Dump
Truck Chassis (subject to the deletion and deduction hereinafter
set forth); and

WHEREAS, said Council concurs in the report and recom-
mendation of said City Administrative Officer and has reached its
decision in the said matter;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL
SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE AND DETERMINE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the bid of IRA E. ESCOBAR, of El Se-
gundo, California, dated April 21, 1954, (the low bid) which
said Council determines to be substantially as follows, to wit:

"Gentlemen:
"The undersigned hereby proposes to furnish and
deliver to the City of El Segundo certain trucks and equip-
ment in accordance with the requirements of the 'notice to
Bidders' dated April 21, 1954.
ITEM #2 - F600 -130 H.P. V8 -154" chassis and cab
G.V.W. - 16,000 lbs. and as per speci-
fications in Item �l (A) ------- - - - - -- 2226.51
Sales Tax ------------ 66.79
TOTAL --------------- 229.3U
"Delivery on above units can be made in approxi-
mately 24 days.
"The City of E1 Segundo to furnish excise tax
exemption certificates on all bids. The excise taxes have
been deducted from all above quotations.
"Enclosed is our Cashiers check in the amount of
$345.37 which is 10% of the total amount of our bid.

and which said bid was submitted in response to and under the
terms, conditions, provisions and requirements set forth in said

"NOTICE INVITING BIDS ON AUTOMOTIVE EQUIPMENT - PURCHASE AND
SALE", be and the same is 1e reby accepted for one new dump truck
chassis as set forth in ITEM NO. 2 of said notice inviting bids,
at the bid price of x¢2,293.30, including State Sales Tax; subject,
however, to the following deletion and corresponding deduction,
to wit;
The requirement for "all legal signaling equipment"
set forth in said notice shall be deleted and
there shall be deducted from said above quoted
bid price of said equipment by reason of such
deletion the sum of $25.74 as a credit to said
City, leaving the balance payable to said Ira
E. Escobar under his said bid the sum of $2,267.56
which includes sales tax;
and the contract or purchase order for said equipment is hereby
awarded to said IRA E. ESCOBAR, accordingly. In the event that
immediate delivery of said equipment can be made, a purchase
order may be issued therefor, and in such case it will not be
necessary to execute and deliver a formal contract. Said bid
is now on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City,
and said bid so on file is hereby expressly referred to and by
this reference incorporated herein and made a part hereof for
all further particulars.
SECTION 2. That all bids received on ITEM NO. 2 under
said notice inviting bids, with the exception of the said bid of
IRA E. ESCOBAR, adjusted as hereinabove set forth, be and the
same are hereby rejected; and the City Clerk is hereby authorized
and instructed to return the checks of all unsuccessful bidders.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause the original
of the same to be entered in the book of resolutions of the said
City of El Segundo, and shall make a minute of the passage and

adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City
Council of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the
same is passed and adopted.
Passed, approved and adopted this 28th day of April,
1954.

do, California, do hereby certify that the whole number of mem-
bers of the City Council of the said City is five; that the
foregoing resolution, being Resolution No. 1403, was passed and
adopted by the said City Council, approved and signed by the
Mayor of said City, and attested by the City Clerk of said City,
all at a regular meeting of the said Council held on the 28th
day April, 1954, and that the same was so passed and adopted by
the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Frederick, Gordon, Swanson and
Mayor Selby;
NOES: Councilmen None;
ABSENT: Councilman Baker.
