CC RESOLUTION 1187654"7 RESOLUTION NO. 1187 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING TO CENTURY CHEVROLET COMPANY A CERTAIN CON'T'RACT OR ORDER FOR THE FURNISHING OF A CERTAIN ONE -HALF TON PICK -UP TRUCK TO SAID CITY. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, has heretofore in the manner provided by Is w, duly and regularly advertised for bids under a notice to bidders en- titled, "NOTICE INVITING BIDS ON MOTOR VEHICLES", dated August 8, 1951, vh ich is now on file in the office of the City Clerk, open to public inspection, and hereby referred to and by this reference incorporated herein and made a part hereof, for fur- nishing said City with certain equipment for use of said City; and WHEREAS, at the time fixed for opening and considering said bids, to wit: the hour of 7:00 o1clock p.m. on Wednesday, the 5th day of September, 1951, said Council did publicly open, examine and declare all bids received; and WHEREAS, at said hour said Council did take said bids under advisement until the hour of 7:00 o'clock p.m. on VVednes- day, the 12th day of September, 1951, and did refer said bids to the Director of Public Works for report thereon; and WHEREAS, said last mentioned hour has now arrived, and the Director of Public Works has duly reported to this Council with reference to all bids received and after consider- ation of such report, the City Council feels that the action hereinafter taken is in the best interest of said City; NOW, THEREFORE, THB CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFOR -`'IA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE AND DETERMINE AS FOLLOWS: - 1 - SECTION 1. That the bid of CENTURY_ CHEVROLET COMLPA'v Y, of Inglewood, California, dated August 24, 1951, which said Coun- cil determines to be substantially as follows, to wit: "CENTURY CHEVROLET COMPANY 636 So. La Brea Ave. - Inglewood, California Telephones: ORchard 7 -2188, ORegon 8 -1141 "August 24, 1951 "Honorable City Council, City of El Segundo, E1 Segundo, California "Gentlemen: "In accordance with the request contained in your Public Notice under date of August 22, 1951, we are pleased to sub- mit herewith our bid for furnishing the following, covered by attached certified check in sum of $472.14. "ITEM #1: One 1951 new standard one -half ton Chevrolet Pickup Truck, #3104, piston displacement 216.5 cubic inch; five 600 six ply tires and vacuum booster PUMP . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . $1361.25 3% Sales Tax 40.81 u "It is understood and agreed that the price on the above units is subject to change without notice, U. S. Price Stabi- lization Regulations. The price effective on date of delivery will be the governing price, but if the price is not satis- factory to the City of E1 Segundo, the order may be can- celled. "The above units can be delivered in thirty days or less un- less of causes beyond our control. Yours very truly, CENTURY CHEVROLET COMPANY Signed: W. B. Mullen lb General Manager. and which said bid was submitted in response to and under the terms, conditions, provisions and requirements set forth in said "NOTICE INVITING BIDS ON MOTOR VE71CLES ", be and the same is hereby accepted as to ITEM NO. 1 of said notice in- viting bids, at the bid price of X1402.06; and the contract or purchase order for said equipment is hereby awarded to - 2 - 6. a49 , said CENTURY CHEVROLET COMP91Y. In the event that immediate de- livery of said equipment can be made, a purchase order may be issued therefor, and in such case it will not be necessary to execute and deliver a formal contract. Said bid is now on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City, and said bid so on file is hereby expressly referred to and by this reference in- corporated herein and made a part hereof for all further particu- lars. SECT1ION 2. That all bids received on ITDd NO. 1 under said notice inviting bi(9s, with the exception of the said bid of CENTURY CHEVROLET COPSPAITY, be and the same are hereby rejected; and the City Clerk is hereby authorized and instructed to return the checks of all unsuccessful bidders. SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause the original of the same to be entered in the book of resolutions of the said City of El Segundo, and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted. Passed, approved and adopted this 12th day of September, 1951.
