CC RESOLUTION 115764.31 RESOLUTION NO. 1157 ASCERTAINING AND DETERMINING THE PREVAILING RATE OF WAGES TO BE PAID FOR THE FOLLOWING PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT IN THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA. WHEREAS, the City Council did on the 23rd day of May, 1951, adopt Resolution of Intention No. 1149 for construction of certain street improvements and sanitary sewers in portions of Pepper Street and Sycamore Avenue, in the City of E1 Segundo, California; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 1773 of the Labor Code of the State of California, it is necessary that the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo ascertain and determine the general prevailing rate of wages on public works, and by the provisions of said Code, it is mandatory upon the awarding body of any public improvement to ascertain and determine the general prevailing rate of per diem wages In the locality in which the work is to be performed, for each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract, and also the general prevailing rate for legal holidays and overtime work for each craft or type of workman or mechanic. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo has ascertained and does hereby determine that the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which the said work described is to be performed in the matter of certain public improvements of said streets and alleys, all in the City of E1 Segundo, California, for each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract and also the general prevailing rate for legal holidays and overtime work for each craft or type of workman or mechanic, to be as follows: Classification Hourly Wage Rate Laborers, General or Construction . . . . . . Provided that one and one -half (12) times the said prevailing rate of wage shall be paid for any time more than eight (8) hours during any one (1) calendar day where such work is required in cases of extra- ordinary emergencies caused by fire, flood or danger to life or property and for time on Sundays and seven (7) legal holidays, to -wit: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Armistice Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
