RESOLUTION NO. 1074
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING
TO OLTMANS CONSTRUCTION CO. A CERTAIN
CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A FIRE
STATION BUILDING WITHIN SAID CITY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of El Segundo,
California, did heretofore invite sealed bids for the construc-
tion, erection and completion of a Fire Station Building, and
such other improvements as are noted on the plans and specifi-
cations therefor referred to in the "NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS
(ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS) ", dated the 16th day of February, 1950;
and which was duly published in time, form and manner as required
by law; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to said Notice, said City Council did
receive various bids from various bidders on said Fire Station
Building as contemplated in said Notice, all of which said bids
were duly and regularly opened, examined and publicly declared by
said City Council at the regular meeting of said Council held on
the 5th day of April, 1950; and
WHEREAS, said Council did on said 5th day of April, 1950,
take all bids received under advisement for a period of one week
and referred the same to the City Engineer and the Architect for
study and recommendation; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to said references, the Architect and
the City Engineer have duly considered all of said bids, both as to
Item Number One of said Notice, the Police Station and Fire Sta-
tion Building combined, and as to Item Number Two of said Notice,
the Fire Station Building only; and
WHEREAS, as to said Item Number Two a report by the
Architect has been submitted to said Council, substantially as
follows, to -wit:

Gentlemen:
"In accordance with request by your City Council, analysis
of all bids presented by the sixteen General Contractors
for the construction of the proposed Fire and Police Sta-
tion Building has been made and is submitted as follows:
"2. FIRE STATION BUILDING ONLY:
Low bidder for this portion of the work is Oltmans
Construction Company, 810 E. 18th Street, Los Angeles#
This bid is for the Fire Station facilities only, in-
cluding the general grading, driveway, walks, etc.,
in the immediate vicinity of the Fire Station only, as
shown on the plans and indicated in the specifications.
This bid does not include the inter - communication sys-
tem, which has been deducted under Alternate No. 3.
"We are returning herewith all original bids submitted for
this project.

which report was verbally concurred in by the City Engineer; and
WHEREAS, after due consideration of all factors involved,
and a review of the finances of the City, available for construc-
tion purposes at this time, the City Council feels that it is in the
best interest of the City that the Fire Station Building only
should be constructed at this time;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL S4-
GUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND
ORDER AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. That all bids or proposals received on the Fire
Station Building, under the "NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS (ADVERTISEMENT
FOR BIDS) ", dated February 16, 1950, and which were opened and de-
clared at the regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1
Segundo, California, held on the 5th day of April, 1950, be and the
same are hereby rejected with the exception of the bid of OLTMANS
CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, and that the general contract for furnishing
all materials, equipment, apparatus, tools, paraphernalia, facili-
ties, transportation, labor and services required in order to con-
struct and complete, strictly in accordance with the plans and
specifications therefor, the Fire Station Building in and for said
City, to be known and designated as "Fire Station ", be and the same
is hereby awarded to said OLTMANS CONSTRUCTION COMPANY at the con-
tract price therefor stated in its bid, to -wit: the sum of
$72,489.00;
SECTION 2. That the said "NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS (ADVER-
TISEMENT FOR BIDS) ", and the said bid of said bidder, the originals
of which notice and bid are on file in the office of the City
Clerk of said City and open to public inspection, be and the same
are hereby referred to and by this reference expressly incorporated
herein and made a part hereof;
SECTION 3. That the Mayor of said City, in its name and
on its behalf, be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to
execute the necessary contract pursuant to this award, and the
City Clerk to attest the same and make delivery thereof upon re-
ceipt of a duplicate thereof for said City duly executed on the
part of said sueessful bidder and the furnishing of the required
bonds. The form of said contract and of said bonds shall be sub-
ject to the approval of the City Attorney, and said bonds shall be
subject to the approval of the Mayor as to Surety.
SECTION 4. That the City Clerk be and he is hereby author-
ized and instructed to return the bid checks of unsuccessful bidders.

SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall certify to the pas-
sage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in the
book of original resolutions of said City; and shall make a minute
of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceed-
ings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes of the meet-
ing at which the same was passed and adopted.

a regular meeting of the said Council held on the 26th day of
April, 1950, and that the same was so passed and adopted by the
following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Gordon, Peterson, Swanson, Thompson
and Mayor Selby.
NOES: Councilmen None
