RESOLUTION NO. 1068
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, ASCERTAIN-
ING AND DETERMINING THE PREVAILING RATE OF
WAGES TO BE PAID FOR CERTAIN PUBLIC IMOVEMENT
IN SAID CITY, AS DESCRIBED IN RESOLUTION OF
INTENTION NO. 1061
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California,
did on the 8th day of February, 1950 adopt Resolution of Intention No. 1061
for the improvement of Indiana Street in said City, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 1773 of the
Labor Code of the State of California, it is necessary that the City
Council of the City of E1 Segundo ascertain and determine the general
prevailing rate of wages on public works, and by the provisions of said
Code, it is mandatory upon the awarding body of any public contract, where
the said body subsequently calls for bids for any public improvement, to
ascertain and determine the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in
the locality in which the work is to be performed, for each craft or
type of workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract, and also the
general prevailing rate for legal holiday and overtime work for each
craft or type of workman or mechanic,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, has ascertained and does hereby determine that the general
prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which the said work
described is to be performed, in the matter of certain public improvements
of said street in the City of E1 Segundo, California, for each craft
or type of workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract, and
also the general prevailing rate Bor legal holidays and overtime work

All foremen not herein separately classified shall be paid not less
than 172 cents per hour more than the hourly rate of the highest
classification over which he has supervision.
Provided that one and one -half (12) times the said
prevailing rate of wage shall be paid for any time more than eight (8)
hours during ar4r one (1) calendar day where such work is required in
cases of extraordinary emergencies caused by fire, flood or danger to
life or property and for time on Sundays and the seven (7) legal
holidays, to -wit= New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July,
Labor Day, Armistice Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
It shall be mandatory upon the contractor to whom
the contract is awarded and upon any sub - contractor under him, to pay
not less than the said specified rates to all laborers, workmen and
mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract,
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 22nd day of March, 1950.

I, Victor D. McCarthy, City Clerk of the City of
E1 Segundo, California, do hereby certify that the whole number
of members of the City Council of said City is five; that the
foregoing resolution, being Resolution No. 1068 , was duly
passed and adopted by the said City Council, approved and signed
by the Mayor of said City, and attested by the City Clerk of said
City, all at a regular meeting of the said Council held on the
22nd day of March, 1950, and that the same was so passed and
adopted by the following vote:
