CC RESOLUTION 996FAQ RESOLUTION NO. 996 A -PESO LJTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL 3EGUi ;DO, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING S:'ECIAL PROVISIONS 140. 490323 OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, FOR THE IM- PROVEMENT OF PINE AVB,NUE, SIERRA PLACE AND SIERRA STREET BETWEEN PENN STREET AND THE NORTHERLY TERMINATION OF SIERRA STREET IN SAID CITY. The City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, does resolve, declare and determine as follows: SECTION 1. That the following special provisions, to be known as "SPECIAL PROVISIONS NO. 490323 OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF PINE AVENUE, SIERRA PLACE AND SIERRA ST. 3ET'WEEN PENN STREET AND NORTHERLY TERMINATION OF SIERRA ST. IN SAID CITY" March 23, 1949, in and for the City of E1 Segundo, California, be and the same are hereby adopted and ordered filed in the office of the City Clerk of said City: "SPECIAL PROVISIONS NO. 490323 "DESCRIPTION OF WORK The work to be done under these special provisions shall consist of furnishing all the necessary materials, tools, appliances, equipment, labor and transportation for the following, to wit: 1. The grading and paving with 2" Plant Mix Paving Material, and the construction of Class B con- crete curbs along Pine Avenue from Penn Street to Sierra Place; 2. The grading and paving with 2" Plant Mix Paving &aterial, and the reconstruction to grade one manhole, all in Sierra Place between Pine Avenue and Sierra Street; 1- 3er2.. 3. The grading and paying with 2" Plant Mix Paving Material of Sierra Street, between Sierra Place and the northerly termination of Sierra Street; all in the City of E1 Segundo, California; and further, as shown upon Plan No. 490323, and described in the Special Provisions; Specifications No. A -1941 entitled 'General Requirements in Connection with public Work in and for the City of E1 Segundo, California', and Speci- fication No. 48030E of the City of E1 Segundo, California, for the construction of Concrete Curbs and Sidewalks; all as heretofore approved by the City Council of said City for said work. In so far as the same may apply, the construction details of the work mentioned herein shall be done in accordance with the provisions of Section 10 to Section 66 inclusive, of the specifications entitled 'State of Cali- fornia, Department of Public Works, Division of Highways, Standard Specifications, January 1949, which specifications are hereinafter referred to as 'Standard Specifications', and made a part hereof. In case of conflict between the Standard Specifica- tions and these Special Provisions, the Special Provisions shall take precedence over and be used in lieu of such conflicting portions. DEFINITIONS Whenever in the Standard Specifications the following terms are used, they shall be understood to mean and refer to the following: DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, or DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS - The City of E1 Segundo Engineering or Street Departments. DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS - The City Engineer of the City of E1 Segundo. 2- ENGINEER - The City Engineer of the City of E1 Segundo, acting either directly or through properly authorized agents, such agents acting within the scope of the particular duties entrusted to them. LABORATORY - The designated laboratory authorized by the City of E1 Segundo to test materials and work in- volved in the contract. STATE - City of El Segundo, California. Other terms appearing in the Standard Specifications, the general specifications, and special provisions, shall have the intent and meaning specified in Section 1, Defini- tion of Terms, of the Standard Specifications. Whenever in Specifications No. A -1941, Specifications No. 480305, or these Special Provisions, the following terms are used, they shall be understood to mean and refer to the following: CITY - The City of E1 Segundo, California. CITY COUNCIL - The City Council of the City of El Segundo, California. CONTRACTOR - The person or persons, co- partnership or cor- poration, who have entered into a contract with the City of El Segundo, California, for the work herein to be performed. PLANT -MIXED SURFACING Plant -mixed surfacing shall conform to the requirements of Section 28 of the Standard Specifications. Slow curing liquid asphalt shall conform to the requirements of Section 64 of the Standard Specifications and shall be of the type specified as SC -6. Paint binder shall be of the emulsion type and shall be applied at a rate not to exceed 1/16 gallon per square yard. Material shall be placed with a Barber Green finisher, or equal. 3- All requirements of Section 26 of the Standard Speci- fications shall govern the work except as modified by the Engineer. In applying the paint binder, progress in advance of the work shall only be such that the binder shall have thoroughly dried before placing the surfacing. TIMBER SIDE FORMS Douglas Fir, Cedar, or Redwood shall be used as Timber Side Forms. Said forms shall conform to Section 29 of the Standard Specifications, January 1949, with the ex- oeption that said forms shall have a minimum nominal thickness of one inch (111); and further, shall pass the inspection of the Street Supt. EXCAVATION DISPOSAL All excess excavation shall be dis- posed of by the contractor. QU_9NTITIES The following preliminary estimate of the quantities of work to be done and materials to be furnished are approxi- mate only, and are offered as a basis for the comparison of bids. The City of E1 Segundo, California, does not expressly or by implication agree that the actual amount of work or material will correspond therewith, but reserves the right to increase or decrease the amount of any class or portion of the work, or to omit portions of the work that may be deemed expedient by the Engineer. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in the Book of Resolutions of said City, and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said city in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
