APPOINTING A. S. iDNMOZ, A CIVIL ENGINEER,
FOR THE PURPOSE OF ASSISTING VARIOUS OFFICERS
OF SAID CITY IN THE PROCEEDINGS Foil CERTAIN

�M.REAS, it is contemplated and it is the intention of the
City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, proceeding under
the provisions of the '?Street Opening Act of 190311, being Division VI
of the Streets and Highways Code of the Ctate of California, to carry
through proceedings for the acquisition of certain real property for
the opening of new streets through 'Blocks Yos. 107, 105, 109, 110,
111 and 114 of L1 Segundo, Sheet P'o. 5, as per map recorded in Nap Book
20, Pages 114 -115, in the office of the Recorder of Los dngeles County,
California; and
411EREAS, it is necessary that some competent person be
appointed for the purpose of preparing the ordinances, notices and
other papers and documents for the acquisition of said real property
for the opening of new streets through Fa id Blocks, authorized by
the above mentioned ' ?Street Opening Act of 1903 ".

City of E1 Segundo, California, as follows:
SECTION 1. That A. S. :onroe, a civil engineer, registered
under the laws of the State of California, be and he is hereby employed
and appointed to do and perform, or cause to be done and performed, the
following services in connection irith the acquisition of real property
for said opening of new streets through Blocks 107, 108, 109, 110, 111
and 114 of E1 Segundo, Sheet No. 5, as per map recorded in Hap Book 20,
Pages 114 -115, in the office of the Recorder of Los Angel -es County,
California:-

(A). To collaborate with the office of the City Engineer
in the preparation of the necessary maps showing such acquisitions and
the district to be assessed, to pay the costs and expenses of such
acquisitions.
(B). To prepare the ordinances of intention for such
acquisitions, resolutions, notices and other papers, documents and
proceedings made necessary under the provisions of said "Street Opening
Act of 1903 ", in order to perfect the title for street purposes,
exclusive of furnishing title reports and /or certificates of title
and appraisals to the property to be taken.
(C). To compute and prepare the assessment (based upon
the costs and expenses of such acquisitions and the diagram of the
assessment district prepared by the office of the City Engineer of
said city), on the various parcels of property within said assessment
district to cover the costs and expenses for such acquisitions, together
with the computation and preparation of any bonds that may be issued
for unpaid assessments, exclusive of furnishing the blank bonds that
may be required for any of the said unpaid assessments ]e vied against
said p,orcels of property within said assessment district.
(D). To furnish all necessary stationery and supplies
in the preparation of any such proceedings, assessment and bond register
that may be required for the preparation of such proceedings, assessment
and bond register.
SECTION 2. That the compensation of said A. S. Monroe
is hereby fixed at an amount equal to Four and one —half per cent (4j%)
of the total cost of said acquisitions, exclusive of incidental expenses
authorised by said "Street Opening Act of 1903 ", which said compensation
shall be included as incidental expenses and become a charge against
the assessment district described in the Ordinance of Intention.

SECTIQW 3. That the payment of said compensation shall
be made as followss
(A). The sum of Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250.00) on
account shall be paid to the said A. S. Monroe within thirty (30)
days after the date of the conclusion of the hearing under the said
Ordinance of Intention and the adoption of the Ordinance finally
ordering such acquisitions.
(B). An amount equal to four and one -half per cent (41,%)
of the total amount of the compensation or awards of damages for the
acquisition of all lands, as determined by the Court in the Interlocutory
Judgment, less the sum of $250.00 paid on account, as provided in
Paragraph "A" of Section 3 hereof, shall become due and payable at the
time when the collections have been made upon the assessment to be
prepared and recorded covering said costs and expenses.
(C). In the event any of the proceedings so initiated
cease or are abandoned by the City Council before the entry of said
Interlocutory Judgment, the City of E1 Segundo shall only be liable
for the time actually incurred by the said A. S. Monroe and persons
employed by him to assist in the preparation of such proceedings, at
the rate of Thirty -five Dollars ($35.00) per day, for the preparation
of any such proceedings, papers, documents, and attending Council
meetings in connection therewith, together with automobile allowance
at the rate of seven cents (U) per mile, which said time and expenses
shall be submitted to this City Council by an itemized, sworn statement
of such time and expenses.

I, Victor D. McCarthy, City Clerk of the City of
El Segundo, California, do hereby certify that the whole number
of members of the City Council of the said city is five; that
the foregoing resolution, being Resolution No. 982, was duly
passed and adopted by the said City Council, approved and signed
by the Mayor of said city and attested by the City Clerk of said
city, all at a regular meeting of the said Council held on the
19th day of January, 1949, and that the same was so passed and
adopted by the following voter
