CC RESOLUTION 1015I "'i RESOLUTION NO. 1015 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING SPECIAL PROVISIONS NUMBER 490713 OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE SOUTHERLY 310.36' OF THAT CERTAIN ALLEY RUNNING NORTH AND SOUTH THROUGH BLOCK 35 IN SAID CITY, DATED JULY 13, 1949. The City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, does resolve, declare and determine as follows: SECTION 1. That the following special provisions being, and which are hereby designated known as "Special Provisions No. 490713 Segundo, California for the Improvement of that Certain Alley Running North and in Said City," dated duly 13, 1949, be, approved and adopted, to -wit: and named, and shall be of the City of E1 of the Southerly 310.36, South Through Block 35 and the same are hereby "SPECIAL PROVISIONS NO. 490713." DESCRIPTION OF WORK The work to be done under these special provisions shall consist of furnishing all the necessary materials, tools, appliances, equipment, labor and transportation for grading and paving, with 2" of Plant Mix, the south- erly 310.36' of that certain alley running northerly and southerly in Block 35 as shown on E1 Segundo Sheet No. 7, M. B. 22, Pages 54 & 55, Records of Los Angeles County, recorded and on file in the office of the County Recorder, of said County, all in the City of E1 Segundo, California; and further, as shown upon Plan No. 490713, and described in the Special Provisions; Specifications No. A -1941 en- titled 'General Requirements in Connection with Public -1- Work in and for the City of El Segundo, California', and all as heretofore approved by the City Council of said City for said work. In so far as the same may apply, the construction details of the work mentioned herein shall be done in accordance with the provisions of Section 10 to Section 66 inclusive, of the specifications entitled 'State of California, Department of Public Works, Division of Highways, Standard Specifications, January 19491, which specifications are hereinafter referred to as 'Standard Specifications', and made a part hereof. In case of conflict between the Standard Speci- fications and these Special Provisions, the Special Provisions shall take precedence over and be used in lieu of such conflicting portions. Whenever in the Standard Specifications the fol- lowing terms are used, they shall be understood to mean and refer to the following: DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, or DIVISIONS OF HIGHWAYS - The City of E1 Segundo Engineering or Street Departments. DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS - The City Engineer of the City of E1 Segundo. ENGINEER - The City Engineer of the City of E1 Segundo, acting either directly or through properly authorized agents, such agents acting within the scope of the particular duties entrusted to them. LABORATORY - The designated laboratory authorized by the City of E1 Segundo to test materials and work involved in the contract. STATE - City of E1 Segundo, California. Other terms appearing in the Standard Specifications, -2- the general specifications, and special provisions, shall have the intent and meaning specified in Section 1, Defi- nition of Terms, of the Standard Specifications. Whenever in Specifications No. A -19412 or these Special Provisions, the following terms are used, they shall be understood to mean and refer to the following: CITY - The City of E1 Segundo, California. CITY COUNCIL - The City Council of the City of El Segundo, California. CONTRACTOR - The person or persons, co- partnership or corporation, who have entered into a contract with the City of E1 Segundo, California, for the work herein to be performed. PLANT -MIXED SURFACING Plant -mixed surfacing shall conform to the re- quirements of Section 28 of the Standard Specifications. Slow curing liquid asphalt shall conform to the re- quirements of Section 64 of the Standard Specifications and shall be of the type specified as SC -6. Paint binder shall be of the emulsion type and shall be applied at a rate not to exceed 1 /16 gallon per square yard. Material shall be placed with a Barber Green fin- isher, or equal. All requirements of Section 28 of the Standard Specifications shall govern the work except as modified by the Engineer. In applying the paint binder, progress in advance of the work shall only be such that the binder shall have thoroughly dried before placing the surfacing. TIMBER SIDE FORMS Douglas Fir, Cedar, or Redwood shall be used as Timber Side Forms. Said forms shall conform to -3- Section 29 of the Standard Specifications, January 1949 with the exception that said forms shall have a minimum nominal thickness of one inch (1 "); and further, shall pass the inspection of the Street Supt. SEAL COAT Seal Coat shall conform to that as set forth in Section 28 and 23 of the Standard Specifications, but whether or not seal coat is used on this pavement shall be left to the discretion of the Street Supt. EXCAVATION DISPOSAL All excess excavation shall be disposed of, or furnished, by the contractor. NOTE - All reference to extra work or payment made by these specifications shall and the same is hereby de- clared not a part of these specifications; and further, the City shall not be held responsible for any payment or compensation due the party involved in the work des- cribed herein." SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in a Book of Resolutions of said City, and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the pro- ceedings of the City Council of said City in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted. This Resolution shall take effect immediately. Passed, approved and adopted this 13th day of July, A.D. 1949. McCarthy, City Clerk of the City of E1 Segundo, California, do hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council of the said City, is five; that the foregoing resolution, being Resolution No. 1015, was passed and adopted by the said City Council, approved and signed by the Mayor of said City, and attested by the City Clerk of said City, all at a regular meeting of the said Council held on the 13th day of July, 1949, and that the same was so passed and adopted by the following vote: ( SEAT. ) AYES: Councilmen Baker, Swanson, Thompson, and Mayor Selby.
