A RESOLUTION OF TEE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA
ASCERTAINING AND DETERMINING THE GENERAL
PREVAILING RATE OF WAGES TO BE PAID FOR
THE FOLLOWING PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT IN THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA
WHEREAS, the City Council did on the 24th day of November,
1946, adopt Resolution of Intention No. 970 for the grading, paving
with plant mix materials, construction of cement concrete curbs and
appurtenant work in portion of Acacia Avenue, in the City of
E1 Segundo, California; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 1773 of the
Labor Code of the State of California, it is necessary that the
City Council of the City of E1 Segundo ascertain and determine the
general prevailing rate of wages on public works, and the provisions
of said Code makes it mandatory upon the awarding body of any public
contract where the said body subsequently calls for bids for any
public improvement, to ascertain and determine the general prevailing
rate of per diem wages in the locality in which the work is to be
performed, for each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed to
execute the contract, and also the general prevailing rate for legal
holiday and overtime work for each craft or type of workman or
mechanic.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of El Segundo,
California, has ascertained and does hereby determine that the
general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which
the said work described is to be performed in the matter of certain
public improvements in said Acacia Avenue, all in the City of El Segundo,
California, for each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed to
execute the contract and also the general prevailing rate for legal
holiday and overtime work for each craft or type of workman or mechanic,
to be as follows:

All foremen not herein separately classified shall be paid not less than
17 -1/2 cents per hour more than the hourly rate of the highest classifi-
cation over which he has supervision.
Any classification omitted herein, not less than 1.4875
Provided that one and one -half (lz) times the said prevailing
rate of wage shall be paid for any time more than eight (8) hours during
any one (1) calendar day where such work is required in cases of extra-
ordinary emergencies caused by fire, flood or danger to life or property
and for time on Sundays and the seven legal holidays, to -wit; New Yearts Day,
Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Armistice Day, Thanksgiving and
Christmas.

The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of
this Resolution; shall enter the same in the Book of Resolutions of
said City, and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof
in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City
in the minutes of the meeting, at which the same is passed and adopted*
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 22nd day of
December 1948.
