RESOLUTION NO. 913
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING
TO IRA E. ESCOBAR THE CONTRACT OR ORDER
FOR ONE NEW COUPE TYPE AUTOMOBILE AND
EQUIPMENT, FOR USE OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
OF SAID CITY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, has heretofore in the manner provided by law,
duly and regularly advertised for bids for furnishing said
City with a certain automobile for use of the Fire Depart-
ment of said City;
AND, WHEREAS, at the time fixed for opening and
considering said bids, to wit: the hour of 7:15 o'clock
P. m. on Wednesday, the 17th day of December, 1947, said
Council did publicly open, examine and declare the bid of
Ira E. Escobar, the only bid received, and reached its
decision in said matter;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
El Segundo, California, does resolve, declare and determine
as follows, to wit:
SECTION 1. That that portion of the bid of said
IRA E. ESCOBAR, of E1 Segundo, California, which said Council
determines to be substantially as follows, to wit:

Gentlemen:
The undersigned hereby pr000ses to furnish and
deliver to the City of El Segundo certain automobile
and equipment for use of the Fire Department as
follows:

One 1948 Ford V -8 100 H.P. DeLuxe
three passenger coupe with ample
shelf room inside for carrying
necessary personal equipment for
ready use of driver of vehicle ........ il,450.00

Equipped with two red lamps, S.M..
D ?o. 52 or equal, mounted on opposite
sides of top of vehicle above windshield;
two amber fog lamps mounted between head-
lamps, Appleton No. 45A or equal; two
white spot lamps mounted on opposite
sides of windshield por operation from
within vehicle, Unity Mfg. Co. Model S-5
or equal; and equipped with extra wheel,
tire, and tube - all tires to be six -ply
with Goodyear Lifeguard, or equal tubes.
We cannot guarantee delivery on the three -
passenger units in ALTERNATE ITEM No. 1
within thirty days, but the FORD MOTOR CO.
informs me that they are anxious to serve
municipalities, and for this important
work will make every effort to deliver
either unit within thirty days, or sooner,
as they did for your Police equipment
recently delivered.
Federal Excise Tax Exemption Certificate to
be furnished by the City of El Segundo.

be, and the same is hereby accepted at the above price, as
set forth in said bid, which said bid is now on file in
the office of the City Clerk of said city, and which said
bid so on file is hereby expressly referred to and by this
reference incorporated herein and made a part hereof.
This award is made under and subject to the terms
and conditions set forth in the "Notice to Bidders on
Automobiles ", dated November 28, 1947, pursuant to which
this award is made.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall prepare
copies of this resolution after the passage and adoption

thereof, and shall affix to such copies at the end
thereof, after the Clerk's Certificate, forms for the
approval of the successful bidder and on the part of
the said City, and such copies of this resolution, so
approved and accepted by the successful bidder and by
and on behalf of said City, shall constitute the contract
for furnishing to said city the said automobile and
equipment bid upon, pursuant to the award hereinabove
made, and the Mayor of said City of E1 Segundo is hereby
authorized on behalf of said City to affix the approval
and acceptance of said City to such contract, and said
City Clerk is hereby authorized and instructed to attest
the same on behalf of said city and to affix the seal of
said City thereto.
SECTION 4. That the City Clerk shall certify
to the passage and adoption of this resolutiion; shall
cause the same to be entered in the book of resolutions
of the City of E1 Segundo, California, and shall make a
minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records
of the proceedings of the City Council of said City, in
the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed
and adopted.

I, Victor D. McCarthy, City Clerk of the City
of E1 Segundo, California, do hereby certify that the
whole number of members of the City Council of the said
City is fine; that the foregoing resolution, being
Resolution No. 913, was passed and adopted by the said
City Council, approved and signed by the Mayor of said
City, and attested by the City Clerk of said City, all
at a regular meeting of the said Council held on the 17th
day of December, A. D., 1947, and that the same was so
passed and adopted by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Baker, Skelley, 'Thompson,
and Mayor Selby;
NOES: Councilmen None;
ABSENT: Councilman
