A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING
TO PACIFIC COAST PUMP COMPANY THE CONTRACT
FOR FURNISHING SAID CITY WITH TWO CENTRI-
FUGAL SEWAGE PUMPS.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of
E1 Segundo, California, has heretofore in the manner provided
by law, duly and regularly advertised for bids for furnish-
ing two certain Centrifugal Sewage Pumps to said city;
AND, WHEREAS, at the time for opening and consider-
ing all of said bids, to wit: the hour of 7:15 o'clock p, m.
on Wednesday, the 17th day of September, A. D., 1947, said
Council did publicly open, examine and declare all bids
received;
AND, WHEREAS, at said hour said Council did take
all of said bids under advisement until the hour of 7:10
ofolook p. m. on Wednesday, the let day of October, 1947,
and referred said bids to the City Engineer for checking;
AND, WHEREAS, said last mentioned hour has now
arrived and the City Engineer has submitted an oral report
to this Council, recommending that the bid of Pacific Coast
Pump Company be accepted;
AND, WHEREAS, this Council hereby approves the
said report and recommendation of said City Engineer;

AND, WHEREAS, said Council has now reached its
decision in the said matter;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
El Segundo, California, does resolve, declare and determine
as follows:
SECTION 1. That the bid of PACIFIC COAST PUMP
COMPANY, of E1 Segundo, California, dated the 17th day of
September, 1947, which said Council determines to be sub-
stantially as follows, to wit:

Gentlemen:
The undersigned hereby proposes to furnish and deliver to
the City of El Segundo, California, on foundations at Sewage
Plant #2, Franklin Avenue and Arena Street, E1 Segundo,
California, for the price stated below, all materials, labor,
tools, equipment, and transportation necessary to complete
and deliver two vertical centrifugal sewage pumps and motors,
all as contemplated and set forth in Specifications SW..470815
of the City of E1 Segundo, California, which are hereby re-
ferred to for a full and detailed description of the equipment
to be furnished, and are by this reference expressly inoor.
porated herein and made a part hereof for all further par-
ticulars with reference to said equipment; all at the bid
price as follows:
ITEM 1. Total price for two (2) pumping unite of
a capacity of 250 - 350 GPM
Seventeen Hundred Twelve & 78/100 Dollars $1.712.78
Time in days, including Sundays and Holidays,
from date of award which will be required to
make delivery of pumping units ............. 112 DAYS
AND AS FURTHER REQUIRED in said "NOTICE TO BIDDERS,"
enclosed herewith is Cashier's Check in the amount of One
Hundred Seventy Five Dollars which said amount is not lose
than ten per cent (10,4) of the total amount bid; AND AS
also further required in said "NOTICE TO BIDDERS" (I) (We)
hereby state that California "SALES TAX" or "USE TAX," or

Subject: Bid on Sewage Pumps, your Specifications SW- 470815
Gentlemen:
Enclosed please find our proposal for furnishing two
PEERLESS vertical sewage pumps, complete with motors and in
accordance with your Specifications. Also included are
Performance Curves, Dimension Sheets, and a Bulletin that
illustrates and described this type of equipment.
The units we propose to furnish are:
Two - -4" x 5" x 2 *L PEERLESS (Kimball- Krogh) vertical open
type, dry pit, non -clog sewage pumps, complete with Wateon-
Spicer. flexible drive shaft, with flanges, and 10 HP, 440
volt, 3 phase, 50/60 cycle, 1000 /1200 RPM vertical solid
shaft motors.
These units are practically identical to the Kimball -
Krogh pumps in use by The City of El Segundo at the present
time.
The change to 60 cycle is very easily and quickly a000m-
plished on these pumps by trimming the impellers to a smaller
diameter, no other changes are neoessary.
We are a local organization, in E1 Segundo, and doing
work for numerous surrounding communities. Affiliated. with
Peerless Pump Division of Food Machinery Corporation, we of
course specialize in their products and stress quick and
efficient service to the Southwest area.

be, and the same is hereby accepted at the price set forth
in said bid, which is now on file in the office of the City
Clerk of said city, and which said bid so on file, together
with Performance Curves, Dimension Sheets, and a Bulletin
that illustrates and describes the equipment, are hereby
expressly referred to and by this reference incorporated
herein and made a part hereof for all further particulars.
SECTION 2. That said pumps and appurtenances shall
comply with the requirements and provisions of "Specifications
ho. SW- 470815 for Furnishing Two Centrifugal Sewage Pumps to
the City of E1 Segundo, California ", the original of which
said specifications is on file in the office of the City Clerk
of said city, and said specifications are hereby by this re-
ference expressly incorporated herein and made a part hereof.
SECTION 3. The Contractor agrees that, pursuant to
the provisions of Article 1 of Chapter 4 of Division 5 of
Title 1 of the Government Code of the State of California,
as amended to date, only unmanufaotured materials produced
In the United States, and only manufactured materials mantir
factured in the United States substantially all from materials
produced in the United States, shall be used in the perform-
ance of this contract. Any person who fails to comply with such
provision shall be subject to the penalties and procedures
set forth, indicated and referred to in said Article 1.
SECTION 4. 'Itiat all bids received for said pumps
are hereby rejected, with the exoeption of the bid of said
Pacific Coast Pump Company, and the City Clerk is hereby
authorized and instructed to return the checks of all
unsuccessful bidders.
SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall prepare copies
of this resolution after the passage and adoption thereof, and
shall affix to such copies at the end thereof after the Clerk's
Certifioate, forms for the approval of the successful bidder

and on the part of the said city, and such copies of this
resolution, so approved and accepted by the successful
bidder and by and on behalf of said oity, shall constitute
the contract for furnishing said pumps, pursuant to the award
hereinabove made, and the Mayor of the City of E1 Segundo is
hereby authorized on behalf of said city to affix the
approval and acceptance of said city to such contract, and
said City Clerk is hereby authorized and instructed to
attest the same on behalf of said city, and to affix the seal
of said city thereto.
SECTION 6. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause the
original of the same to be entered in the book of resolutions
of the said City of E1 Segundo, and shall make a minute of
the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the pro.
ceedings of the City Council of said city, in the minutes of
the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
Passed, approved and adopted this lot day of
October, A. D., 1947.

number of members of the City Council of the said city is
five; that the foregoing resolution, being Resolution No.
320, was passed and adopted by the said City Council,
approved and signed by the Mayor of said city, and attested
by the City Clerk of said city, all at a regular meeting of
the said Council held on the lot day of October, A. D., 1947,
and that the same was so passed and adopted by the following
vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Baker, Peterson, Skelley, Thompson and
Mayor Selby;
Noes: Councilmen None;
Absent: Councilmen None.
