A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING
"SPECIFICAT70PI N0. BW- 470815 FOR FURNISH-
ING TWO CENTRIFUGAL SEWAGE PUMPS TO THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA ".
The City Council of the City of El Segundo,
California, does resolve, declare and determine as follows:
SECTION 1. That the following specifications,
being and to be known as "SPECIFICATION NO. SW..470815 FOR
FURNISHING TWO CENTRIFUGAL SEWAGE PUMPS TO TtiE CITY OF
EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA" be, and the same are hereby adopted:

REQUIREMENTS Material to be furnished under these
specifications shall consist of two
centrifugal, vertical, dry - basin, non.
clogging sewage pumps; direct connected
to and complete with electrical motor,
flexible coupling and base plates; said pumps to be
delivered on foundations at Sewage Plant #2, Franklin
Avenue and Arena Street, E1 Segundo, California_
SERVICE CONDITIONS Pumps will be used to pump sewage
from an adjoining wet well, through a 20
year old 6" oast iron pipe; and the
auction head will be assumed to be zero.
CAPACITY ANll
CHARACTERISTICS Both units furnished shall be designed
for a pumping capacity of 250 to 350
GPM.EA. against a total dynamic head of
52 feet when operating at approximately
1000 RPM.

MATERIALS
AND DETAILS Pump casings shall be of close gray
Pumps steel, or iron alloy approved by the
purchaser, machined on all contact faces,
and with smooth water passages. Tapped
holes shall be provided for venting the
air, draining the case, and attaching gauges to suction
and discharge nozzles for testing, and provision shall
also be made for attaching a drain pipe for leakage
from the stuffing box. Pumps shall be so designed
that removal of the shaft and impeller assembly can be
accomplished without disturbing the motor and pipe
connections. Suction and discharge shall be five (5)
Inches and four (4) inches respectively.
Impeller shall be two port enclosed type,
made of cast iron, and balanced dynamically and stati-
cally; and shall be designed to pass two and one -half
(2 1 /2) inch solids.
Hall bearings used in the makeup of the
unit shall be of standard make and size so they may be
easily and quickly replaced; and further, said bearings
will be able to take up the thrust and radial forces set
up by the unit. Crease lubrication systems shall make
provisions to force out old grease and limit the pressure.
The shaft shall be of high grade steel, heat
treated, turned, ground and polished, and of sufficient
diameter and strength to prevent vibration when pump is
in operation.
Stuffing box shall be provided with a water
seal and split gland.
Coupling Coupling shall be of such design as to allow
a deflection at each universal and longitu-
dinal extension.

Motor Motors shall be squirrel cage induction
type, and the electric current supplied
by the City will be 440 volt, 50 cycle, 3
phase power; however, both motors are to
be constructed for operation on 50 cycle
and, in the future, for operation on 60 cycle. Motors
shall be provided with suitable conduit box for terminal
connections, mounted on side frames, and of sufficient
size to accommodate makeup of wire and insulation necessary
for this size motor. The shaft and rotor shall be balanced
dynamically and statically_
DATA TO BE
FURNISHED The bidder shall furnish with his information:
(a) Characteristic curves of proposed pumps
showing capacities, efficiencies, and horsepower required
for the operation of the pumping units.
(b) Descriptive literature of type of equip.
ment, together with foundation and outline drawings showing
Installation dimensions.
TIME OF
DELIVERY The time in which delivery of complete
pumping units herein bid upon can be made
is an essential part of these specifications
and the bidder shall state the number of days,
including Sundays and holidays, from date of award, that he
will be required to make the delivery of said pumping units."
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same
in the book of resolutions of said City, and shall make a
minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of
the prooeedings of the City Council of said city in the
minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.

five; that the foregoing resolution, being Resolution No. 894,
was passed and adopted by the said City Council, approved and
signed by the Mayor of said city and attested by the City Clerk
of said city, all at a regular meeting of the said Council
held on the 2a-rA day of u es , A. D., 1947, and that the
same was passed and adopted by the following vote, to —wit:
