A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING SPECIFI_
CATIONS NO. WW-461001 FOR FURNISHING THREE
CENTRIFUGAL PUMPS TO THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA.
The City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, does resolve, declare and determine as follows:
SECTION 1. That the following specifications,
being and to be known as "SPECIFICATION NO. WW- 461001 FOR
FURNISHING THREE CENTRIFUGAL WATER PUMPS TO THE CITY OF
EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA" be, and the same are hereby adopted:
"SPECIFICATION NO. WW-461001
FOR FURNISHING
THREE CENTRIFUGAL WATER PUMPS
TO THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA
"REQUIREMENT Material to be furnished under these
specifications shall consist of three
centrifugal, direct - connected, electric-
motor - driven water pumps, complete with
electric motor, flexible coupling, and
baseplate, all as hereinafter described and specified.
Pumps shall be delivered on foundations at Water Treat-
ment Plant, 325 Maryland Street, E1 Segundo, California,
and installation, including foundations, connections to
water and electric eervice, and starters for electric
motors will be furnished by City.
"SERVICE
CONDITIONS Pumps will be installed and used for
booster service, taking water from re-
servoir and pumping directly into elevated
steel storage tank, and located adjacent
to reservoir from which suction is to be

taken under positive suction head. Ample flow to
pumps will be provided through oversize auction
manifold. It is estimated that there will be at
least five feet positive suction head at all times
on suctions of all pumping units.
"CAPACITY AND
CHARACTERISTICS
ITEM NO. 1 One unit shall be furn-
ished under this item and shall be
designed for a capacity of 1000 gpm
and shall operate against a total
dynamic head of 1001, operating at
approximate
speed of 1450 rpm.
ITEM N0. 2 Two units shall be furnished
under this item, and each shall be
designed for a capacity of 1700 gpm
against a total dynamic head of 1001,
when operating at approximate speed of
1450 rpm.
"MATERIALS
AND DETAILS All three pumps to be furnished shall be
of single stage, split case, double suction
design; suction and discharge flanges to
be on opposite sides; volute case shall
be constructed of close grained cast iron;
Impeller shall be of bronze, carefully finished and bal-
anoed; shaft shall be of heat treated steel, protected
from wear by bronze sleeves extending through stuffing -
boxes. Pumps shall have 6" discharge and 8" suction and
shall be equipped with suitable ball - bearings for both
radial and thrust loads. Stuffingboxes shall be
equipped with lantern rings for water lubrication. Pump
cases shall be flit horizontally and so designed that
top half can be removed without disturbing water
connections to pump.

Each pumping unit shall be furnished with an extended
cast -iron baseplate to receive motor and shall be comma
plate with Waldron or Fast steel gear -type flexible
coupling, or equal.
"ELECTRIC
MOTOR There shall be furnished for
Pumping unit
under Item No. 1 a 40 HP motor, and two
Pumps under Item No. 2, shall each be
equipped with a 60 HP motor. Motors shall
be of squirrel -cage induction type and shall conform to
latest revised standards of National Electric Manufact-
urers' Association and American Institute of Electrical
Engineers. Electric current to be supplied by the City
will be 440 volt, 50 cycle, 3 phase, power but all three
motors, however, are to be constructed for operation on
present 50 cycle power, and in the future for operation
on 60 cycle power. Motors shall be provided with suit-
able conduit box for terminal connections, mounted on
side of frames and of sufficient size to accommodate
makeup of varnished- Cambric insulated, lead - covered,
three conductor cables, suitable for motor voltage.
"DATA TO BE
FURNISHED Bidder shall furnish with his bid the
following information;
(a) Characteristic curves of proposed
Pumps showing capacities, efficiencies, and horse-
power required for operation of pumping units.
(b) Descriptive literature of type of
equipment, together with foundation and outline draw-
ings showing installation dimensions.
"TIME OF
DELIVERY The time in which delivery of complete
Pumping units herein bid upon can be made is an essential
part of these specifications and bidder shall state the

number of days, including Sundays add holidays, from
date of award, that he will require to make delivery
of said pumping units. "
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to
the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter
the same in the book of resolutions of said city, and shall
make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the
records of the proceedings of the City Council of said city

and adopted.

I, Victor D. McCarthy, City Clerk of the City
of E1 Segundo, California, do hereby oertify that the
whole number of members of the City Council of the said
city is five; that the foregoing resolution, being
Resolution No. 853, was passed and adopted by the said
City Council, approved and signed by the Mayor of said
city and attested by the City Clerk of said city, all at
a regular meeting of the said Council held on the 2nd day
of October, A. D., 1946, and that the same was passed and
adopted by the following vote, to -wit:
AYES: Councilmen Baker, Peterson, Skelley, Thompson
and Mayor Selby;
NOES: Councilmen None;
