A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING A
CONTRACT TO INGLEWOOD HUMANE SOCIETY FOR
FURNISHING PUBLIC POUND SERVICE, INCLUDING
THE FURNISHING OF A PUBLIC POUND AND PER-
FORMING THE DUTIES OF POUND MASTER IN AND
FOR SAID CITY FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR,
BEGINNING APRIL 1, 1946.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of El Segundo,
California, has heretofore in the manner provided by law,
duly and regularly advertised for bids for furnishing public
pound service including the furnishing of a public pound and
performing the duties of pound master in and for the said
City of E1 Segundo, as provided for in Ordinance No. 188
thereof, as amended to date;
AND, WHEREAS, at the time for opening and consider-
ing said bids, to..wit: the hour of 7:00 olelock p. m. on
Wednesday, the 27th day of March, 1946, it was found that
there was but one bid received therefor, to -wit: the bid of
Inglewood Humane Society, Inc., and at said time said Council
did publicly open, examine and declare said bid and reached
its decision in the said matter;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
E1 Segundo, California, does resolve, declare and determine
as follows:
SECTION 1. That Item No. 3, Subdivision (a) of the
said bid of said Inglewood Humane Society, Inc., dated the
27th day of March, A. D., 19460 be, and the same is hereby
accepted by said Council on behalf of said city, and said
Council hereby determines said bid or proposal to be as
follows, to -wit:

Gentlemen:
The undersigned, in response to the puolisned
'NOTICE INVITING SEALED BIDS FOh FURNISHING PUBLIC
POUND SERVICE INCLUDING THE uOLLLCi1U,v OF LICE10t;
FEES AND THE FURNISHING OF A PUBLIC POUND AND
PERFORIffNGTHE DUTIES OF POUND MASTER IN AND FOR THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA. ", a printed copy of
which said notice is hereunto annexed and by this
reference expressly incorporated herein and made a
part hereof, hereby respectfully proposes and bids to
furnish, at _ _ own expense, a public pound service
which shall include the collection of fees, the furnish-
ing of a proper, adequate and suitable public pound,
any and all apparatus and equipment, supervision and
labor necessary in order to promptly, properly, fully,
completely and efficiently perform and discharge all
acts and duties to be performed and /or discharged by
the pound master, his deputies and assistants, accord-
ing to the provisions and requirements of and as con-
templated in the terms of Ordinance No. 188 of the City
of E1 Segundo, California, passed and adopted on the
19th day of April, 1933, as amended, and of said notice
hereunto attached, including the matters and things
herein set forth and /or referred to under the following
proposition, to -wit:
"ITEM NO. 3: For the payment to the undersigned
of a definite sum per month and a percentage of the fees
collected each month for dog licenses, as follors:
(a) On the basis of a contract for the period
of one year, from April 1, 1946, $50.00 per
month, plus fifty per cent of such fees.
"It is understood that all license collections are
to be paid into the City Treasury of the City of E1 Segundo
promptly as collected, and that the amount and /or percentage
payable to the contractor under any contract awarded here-
under shall be payable to such contractor monthly, upon
proper demands therefor made each month for the percentage
payable upon collections made during the calendar month
preceding the month in which such demand is made.
"Enolosed herewith is a __ check for the sum
of One Hundred Dollars (a100.00T, payable to the said
City of El Segundo, which said check shall be forfeitea
to said City in the event the undersigned fails or refuses
for a period of ten days after notice of award of contract
to enter into the necessary contract and furnish the
required bond.
"In the event the contract be awarded to the under -
sig,.ea, Elie person to be named as pound master shall be
Leroy Keehn, or such other person as the undersig..eu may
nominate, in writing, in the event of sickness or other
Inability of the above named nominee to act, and the
public pound to be furnished by the undersigned will be
located at: 615 W. Hyde Park. Blvd., Inglewood, Calif.

"The undersigned hereby respectfully states that
in the event the contract be awarded to the undersigned,
that resident citizens of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, will, so far as reasonably possible, be
employed upon the work contemplated to be done under
the contract above referred to, and does hereby further
consent that a clause to that effect may be incorporated
in the said contract if awarded to the undersigned.

That the pound master shall be Leroy Keehn,and
Deputy Pound Master or
such other persons as the Contractor may nominate, in writing,
in the event of sickness or other Inability of the said
Leroy Keehn, or said to act, and the public
pound to be furnished by said Contractor will be located at
No. 615 W. Hyde Park Blvd., Inglewood, California.
SECTION 2. That said bid be, and the same is
hereby ordered placed on file in the office of the City Clerk
of said oity.
SECTION 3. That the Mayor of said City is hereby
authorized and instructed to execute on behalf of said City
the necessary contract, pursuant to this award, and the
City Clerk is hereby authorized and instructed to attest
and deliver the same.
SECTION 4. That the City Clerk shall certify to
the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause
the same to be entered in the book of resolutions of the
City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, and
shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in
the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said
City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is
passed and adopted.

five; that the foregoing resolution, being Resolution No.
816, was passed and adopted by the said City Council, approved
and signed by the Mayor of said City, and attested by the
City Clerk of said City, all at a regular meeting of the said
Council held on the 27th day of March, 1946, and that the
same was so passed and adopted by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Hesser, Peterson, Skelley, Thompson and
Mayor Selby;
NOES: Councilmen None;
ABSENT: Councilmen None.
