A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA
AWARDING TO IRA E. ESCOBAR THE CONTRACT
FOR FURNISHING SAID CITY WITH TWO CERTAIN
NEW 1946 FOUR -DOOR SEDAN -TYPE AUTOMOBILES
AND EQUIPMENT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of El Segundo,
California, has heretofore in the manner provided by law duly
and regularly advertised for bids for furnishing said city
with two certain new 1946 Four -Door Sedan -Type Automobiles
and equipment for the use of said city;
AND, WHEREAS, at the time fixed for opening and
considering said bids, to -wit: the hour of 7 :15 o'clock
p. m. on Wednesday, the 16th day of January, 1946, said
Council did publicly open, examine and declare the bid of
Ira E. Escobar, being the only bid received therefor, and
has reached its decision with reference thereto;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
El Segundo, California, does resolve, declare and determine
as follows:
SECTION 1. That the bid of IRA E. ESCOBAR, of
El Segundo, California, dated January 15, 1946, for the two
certain automobiles and equipment referred to in Item No. 1
of the "Notice Inviting Bids on Automobiles ", which said
Council determines to be as follows, to -wit:
"ITEM NO. 1.
For the furnishing and delivering of two new 1946 four -
door sedan -type FORD V-8 automobiles, equipped with
safety glass throughout; five six -ply tires or equal;
two Model 37 Lorraine or equal driving lights mounted on
opposite sides of the windshield; two 7 -inch fog lamps
mounted on front, per buyer's instructions; two five -
inch diameter stationary red lamps mounted on opposite
sides of top of car above the windshield; one police -
type generator and one 150 ampere -hour, battery, both of
sufficient capacity for use with mobile communication
transmitter and receiver; one Warner or equal standard

heater; automobiles to be painted black and white
with the word "POLICE" painted on each front door,
Identical with Car No. 20 of the City of E1 Segundo,
California; in all other respects said automobiles
shall be equipped with standard equipment; all for
the sum of
Three Thousand Forty -one and 64/100 DOLLARS ($3,041.64).
"California State "Salee Tax" or "Use Tax" is included
in the amount bid.

"This bid is made and offered subject to the following
conditions;
1. That the prices herein quoted on new automobiles
or trucks are our best guess as to the prices which
may be established on new motor vehicles by the
Office of Price Administration, and such prices
are subject to increase or decrease in accordance
with such established prices when same are fixed
and promulgated.
2. That the vehicles bid upon will be delivered only
after same have been delivered by the manufacturer
to the undersigned bidder, in accordance with our
orders on file; and that in event delivery cannot
be made within 120 days as a result of circumstances
beyond our control, our cashier's check will be re-
funded..........................................
It is our sincere desire to serve you and realize
the exigency of these units. We assure you of our
every effort to affect delivery as soon as possible.

be, and the same is hereby accepted at the above price, as
set forth in said bid, which is now on file in the office of
the City Clerk of said city, and which said bid so on file
is hereby expressly referred to and by this reference
incorporated herein and made a part hereof.
Payment will be made from the general fund of said
city after delivery of said automobiles and equipment, and
approval of same by the City Council of said city.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall prepare
copies of this resolution, after the passage and adoption
thereof, and shall affix to such copies at the end thereof,

after the Clerk's Certificate, forms for the approval
Of the successful bidder and on the part of the said city,
and such copies of this resolution, so approved and
accepted by the successful bidder and by and on behalf
of said city, shall constitute the contract for furnishing
to said city the said automobiles and equipment bid upon,
pursuant to the award hereinE,bove made, and the Mayor of
said City of E1 Segundo is hereby authorized on behalf of
said city to affix the approval and acceptance of said city
to such contract, and said City Clerk is hereby authorized
and instructed to attest the same on behalf of said city,
and to affix the seal of said city thereto.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to
the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause
the original of the same to be entered in the book of re-
solutions of the said City of E1 Segundo, and shall make
a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records
of the proceedings of the City Council of said city in the
minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and
adopted.
Passed, approved and adopted this 16th day of
January, A. D., 1946.

I, Victor D. McCarthy, City Clerk of the City
of E1 Segundo, California, do hereby certify that the whole
number of members of the City Council of the said city is
five; that the foregoing resolution, being Resolution No.
796, was passed and adopted by the said City Council, approved
and signed by the Mayor of said city, and attested by the
City Clerk of said city, all at a regular meeting of the
said Council held on the 16th day of January, A. D., 1946,
and that the same was so passed and adopted by the following
vote:
AYE°: Councilmen Hesser, Peterson, Skelley, Thompson and
Mayor Selby;
NOES: Councilmen None;
ABSENT: Councilmen None.
