CC RESOLUTION 763RESOLUTION NO. 765 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING RESOLUTION N0. 733 OF SAID COUNCIL (THE SALARY RESOLUTION) BY AMENDING SUBDIVISION 14 OF THE SCHEDULE OF COMPENSATION SET FORTH IN SECTION 1 OF SAID RESOLUTION RELATING TO DEPARTMENTAL CLERICAL SERVICE; AND BY AMENDING SECTION 6 OF SAID RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR INCREASED COMPENSATION DUE TO INCREASED COSTS OF WARTIME LIVING. The City Council of the City of El Segundo, Cali- fornia, does hereby resolve, declare and determine as follows: SECTION 1. That Subdivision 14 of the "Schedule of Compensation for the Various Officers, Department Heads and Employees of the City of E1 Segundo, California ", set forth in Section 1 of Resolution No. 733 of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, FIXING AND ESTABLISHING THE COMPENSATION OR PAY OF VARIOUS MUNICIPAL OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF SAID CITY, AND REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS AND ORDERS AND PARTS OF RESOLUTIONS AND ORDERS IN CONFLICT THEREWITH. ", passed and adopted on the 16th day of August, 1944, shall be and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows: "Subdivision 14. DEPARTMENTAL CLERICAL SERVICE: (A) The Departmental Clerk assigned for service In the Water Department of said city shall receive the sum of 8155.00 per month. (B) Other Departmental Clerks shall receive the sum of 0145.00 per month each, and said compensation shall be segregated and the respective proportion- ate parts thereof charged against the respective 1- departments to which service was rendered during the respective months of service. (C) Assistant Departmental Clerks shall receive the sum of 70¢ per hour each for each hour of service during the first six months of service, as such, and 75¢ per hour each for each hour of service during the seventh and all subsequent months of service, as such." SECTION 2. That Section 6 of said Resolution No. 733 shall be and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows: "SECTION 6. That as previously provided in Section 5.2 of Resolution No. 635, as amended, and In view of the increased costs of wartime living, and effective on and after the lot day of July, 1945, and continuing thereafter until the further order of the City Council, each officer and employee of the City of E1 Segundo, whose compensation is hereinabove indicated on a monthly basis (notwithstanding the fact that same may be payable in semi - monthly or other in- stallments), or whose hours of service for said city in any capacity or capacities whatsoever, regularly equal or exceed 160 hours per month or 80 hours per semi- monthly pay period, shall (except as hereinafter provided in this section) be entitled to and shall receive, and there shall be paid to him,or her in addi- tion to the compensation or salary above provided for such officer or employee, the sum of $20.00 per month, payable in equal semi- monthly installments, with his or her regular compensation; and each employee who is employed on an hourly or daily basis, whose hours of service are less than 160 hours per month or 80 hours per semi- monthly pay period, shall receive a sum in 4 " ", addition to the compensation or salary hereinabove provided in this resolution for such employee, which shall be in proportion to $20.00 per month or $10.00 per semi - monthly pay period, as the case may be, as the number of hours actually worked by him or her in any month or pay period bears to 160 hours or 80 hours respectively, as the case may be. In cases where any officer or employee serves the city in more than one capacity or classification the Increase in compensation herein granted shall apply to only one such capacity or classification (other than an elective officer) to be designated by such employee in writing filed in the office of the City Clerk of said city. Each such written designation shall be presented to the City Council at the next regular meeting of said Council after the filing thereof, and shall be subject to the approval of said Council. It is provided, however, that any such designations made under the provisions of this section prior to July,l, 1945, shall continue in effect until such time as such designations are changed by further written designation, as hereinabove contem.. plated. The Council reserves the right to withdraw, the compensation, granted in this Section 6, or any part thereof, at any time hereafter, when in the discretion of the City Council, circumstances or conditions require, Indicate or justify such reduction. It is provided, however, that the increase in com- pensations granted by the provisions of this Section 6 shall not apply to the office or position of Fire Chief of said city, as the City Council, at the time of fixing the present compensation of said particular office or position, had in mind that the present compensation 3- 4 ,)40. provided for said particular office or position was and Is adequate in view of the limited time required on the part of the incumbent of said par- ticular office or position to properly discharge his duties." SECTION 3. That said Resolution No. 733 is hereby amended as hereinabove in Sections 1 and 2 of this resolution set forth. SECTION 4. That this resolution shall take effect and be in full force and virtue on and after the first day of July, 1945. SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause the original of the same to be entered in the book of resolu- tions of the said City of II Segundo, and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the Ci6y Council of said city, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
