A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING
TO WATER WELL EQUIPMENT CO. THE CONTRACT
FOR FURNISHING SAID CITY ONE CERTAIN DEEP
WELL TURBINE PUMP, PIPE AND FITTINGS FOR
WATER WELL N0. 9.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of
E1 Segundo, California, has heretofore in the manner provided
by law, duly and regularly advertised for bids for furnishing
all labor, machinery, materials, equipment, tools, apparatus
and supplies necessary for the complete installation of a
Deep Well Turbine Pump in proposed fresh water well No. 9,
located on Lots 6 and 7, Block 67, E1 Segundo Sheet No. 7,
in the said city, as per map thereof recorded in Book 22,
pages 54 and 55 of Maps, Records of the County of Los Angeles,
State of California;
AND, WHEREAS, at the time for opening and consider-
ing all of said bids, to -wit: the hour of 7 :15 o'clock po m.
on Wednesday, the 7th day of June, A. D., 1944, said Council
did publicly open, examine and declare all bids received;
AND, WHEREAS, at said hour said Council did take
all of said bids under advisement until the hour of 4:15
o'clock p. m. on Monday, the 19th day of June, A. D., 1944;
AND, WHEREAS, said last mentioned hour has now
arrived and said Council has reaohed its decision in the
said matter;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
E1 Segundo, California, does resolve, declare and determine
as follows:
SECTION 1. That the bid of WATER WELL EQUIPMENT
CO., dated June 6, 1944, and letter accompanying same, which
said Council determines to be as follows, to -wit:

Gentlemen:
"In accordance with your advertisement of May 18,
1944, and specifications, we are pleased to submit, for
your consideration, our proposal fully meeting your re-
quirements on a Pomona water lubricated deep well turbine
pump for water well No. 9, consisting of the following:
"l - 12" LC 6 stages bowl assembley with cast iron
bowls, stainless steel shaft, bronze semi open impeller.
"l - 50" HP 1450 RPM 50 cyc phon 440 volts Unidrive
surface head and motor with nonreversible ratchet.
11220 ft. 8" std. x 1 *" Complete discharge Column
"10 ft. 8" std. suction pipe and greene type strainer
11220 ft. V Galvanized airline pipe with gauge and
fittings.
61 50 HP 440 volt entrance switch
01 50 HP 440 volt Magnetic starter and push button
station.
"We are enclosing bidders form which has been completed
together with Certified Check in the amount of $259.00 being
not less than 10% of the total amount of ourbid.

THE FURNISHING AND INSTALLATION OF A TURBINE PUMP
AND APPURTENANCES IN THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA.
"To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
of the City of E1 Segundo, California.
Gentlemen:
"Pursuant to 'Notice to Bidders' published in the
E1 Segundo Herald, the undersigned hereby proposed to furnish
to the City of El Segundo, in said City, all the labor, tools,
apparatus, machinery, equipment, supplies and material necess-
ary for the complete furnishing and installation of a Deep
Well Turbine Pump Assembly in proposed Fresh Water Well No. 9,

located on Lots 6 and 7, Block 67, E1 Segundo, Sheet
No. 7, as per map thereof recorded in Book 22, pages
54 and 55 of Maps, Records of the County of Los Angeles,
State of California, as follows:
"One Deep Well Turbine Pump with one 50 BP, 440 Volt,
50 Cycle, 3 Phase, 4 Pole, 1450 RPM, Vertical Eleo-
trio Motor with starting switch and switch panel
complete, together with one deep well bowl assembly
and foot valve for a capacity of not less than 500
GPM against a total differential head of 210 feet;
"Bowls to be set 220 feet below top of casing;
"Column to be 8" Standard Pipe, inolosing tube 2-1/d" extra
heavy, shaft 1.1/2" diameter, column sections 10' in
length;
"Suotion Pipe to be 10' long and to be furnished with
Green Strainer;
"220 Lineal Feet of air line, 1/4" diameter together
with gauge and fitting for determination of water levels;"
all for the Lump Sum of - - - Two thousand five hundred
eighty -nine - - - - - - - - - DOLLARS ($ 2589.00 )
"AND AS REQUIRED in said 'Notice to Bidders' hereby states
that California 'Sales Tax' or 'Use Tax', or any other
State or Federal Tax IS included in the amount bid.
"AND AS FURTHER REQUIRED in said 'Notice to Bidders' hereby
agrees that he will furnish the equipment and material
herein bid upon within 30 days after the undersigned re-
oeives Written Notice of Award of Contract and that he will
complete the installation thereof 5 days thereafter.
"AND AS FURTHER REQUIRED in said 'Notice to Bidders, incloses
herewith Certified Check in the amount of Two hundred fifty.
nine DOLLARS ($ 259.00).

In said bid, which is now on file in the office of the City
Clerk of said city, and which said bid so on file is hereby
expressly referred to and by this reference incorporated

herein and made a part hereof for all further particulars.
SECTION 2. That all bids received for said
pumping equipment, with the exception of the said bid of
Water Well Equipment Co., be, and the same are hereby re-
jected, and the City Clerk is hereby authorized and
Instructed to return the checks of all unsuccessful bidders.
SECTION 3. That said Contractor agrees that all
work will be done in accordance with the provisions of the
"Labor Code" of the State of California, in all respects,
and to pay not lose than the general prevailing rates of
wages in the City of E1 Segundo, California (the locality in
which the work or improvement above referred to is to be
performed) for each craft or type of workman or mechanic
needed to execute this contract for furnishing and installing
said pumping equipment. Said general prevailing rates of
wages, so ascertained, declared, determined and specified,
are herein specifically set forth as follows, to -wit:

Saturday is treated not as a legal holiday
or over -time work unless same falls upon a calendar
day, the whole of which is declared a legal holiday
by law.
It shall be mandatory upon the contractor herein,
and upon any sub- oontraotor under said contractor, to pay
not less than the said specified rates to all laborers, worko
men and mechanics employed by them in the execution of the
contract.

The contractor shall forfeit as a penalty to the
City of E1 Segundo, Ten (10) Dollars for each laborer,
workman or meohanic employed for each calendar day or
portion thereof such laborer, workman or mechanic is paid
less than the general prevailing rate of wages herein
stipulated for any work done under this contract, or by
any sub - contractor under said contractor, in violation of
the said Labor Code.
SECTION 4. That the contractor, in so far as it
is legally required so to do, must observe and abide by the
provisions of all laws of the State of California and of
the United States of America, relating to contracts of the
nature contemplated hereby.
SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall prepare
copies of this resolution after the passage and adoption
thereof, and shall affix to such copies at the end thereof
after the Clerk's Certificate, forms for the approval of
the successful bidder and on the part of the said olty,
and such copies of this resolution, so approved and accepted
by the successful bidder and by and on behalf of said city,
shall constitute the contract for furnishing and installing
said pumping equipment, pursuant to the award hereinabove
made, and the Mayor of the City of E1 Segundo is hereby
authorized on behalf of said city to affix the approval
and acceptance of said city to such contract, and said
City Clerk is hereby authorized and instructed to attest
the same on behalf of said city, and to affix the seal of
said city thereto.
SECTION 6. That the City Clerk shall certify to
the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause
the original of the same to be entered in the book of
resolutions of the said City of E1 Segundo, and shall make
a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records

of the proceedings of the City Council of said city,
in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed
and adopted.
Passed, approved and adopted this 19th day of
June, A. D., 1944.

an adjourned regular meeting of the said Council held on
the 19th day of June, A. D., 1944, and that the same was
passed and adopted by the following vote, to -wit:
