A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, GIVING
AND GRANTING THE CONSENT OF SAID CITY TO
THE INSTALLATION OF CERTAIN WATER SERVICE
CONNECTIONS WITHIN SAID CITY OF EL SEGUNDO
BY THE DEPARTMENT OF WATER AND POWER OF
THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES IN AND ACROSS
CERTAIN OF THE PUBLIC STREETS WITHIN SAID
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO TO PROVIDE WATER FOR
FIRE PROTECTION PURPOSES TO INTERSTATE
AIRCRAFT AND ENGINEERING CORPORATION.
WHEREAS, Interstate Aircraft and Engineering
Corporation, a corporation engaged in the filling of defense
orders for the Government of the United States of America,
has certain facilities within the City of E1 Segundo which
require water service;
AND, WHEREAS, under existing conditions the City
of Los Angeles, through the Department of Water and Power
of said City of Los Angeles, now has, or will install,
facilities to render to said Interstate Aircraft and Engi-
neering Corporation the required water service, and said
department is ready and willing so to do;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
El Segundo, California, does resolve, declare and determine
as follows:
SECTION 1. That the City of Los Angeles, through
the Department of Water and Power of said City of Los Angeles,
is hereby granted permission, right and authority to install
(for fire and fire protection purposes only) water service
connections, together with their necessary and convenient
appurtenances, from the facilities of said City of

Los Angeles to the facilities of said Interstate Airoraft
and Engineering Corporation, in the City of El Segundo, re-
quiring such service, and to thereafter maintain, repair,
replace and remove said water service connections and their
appurtenances, and furnish water service through the same.
The facilities of said Interstate Aircraft and Engineering
Corporation herein referred to are located on the South
side of Imperial Highway westerly of Inglewood- Redondo Road
within said City of E1 Segundo, and the City Council of the
City of El Segundo, on behalf of the City of E1 Segundo, by
the adoption of this resolution, does hereby consent to such
installation, maintenance and use of such water service
connections and their said appurtenances, and to the service
of water through the same within said city for the purposes
stated.
The authority herein granted is granted as to all
portions of all of the public streets of said City of E1
Segundo which may be necessary or convenient to be used in
installing and maintaining such water service connections
and appurtenances, and in providing the water service as
hereinabove contemplated.
This consent, permission and authority is granted
upon and subject to each and all of the following terms and
conditions:
First: That this permit relates to and author-
izes only the furnishing of such water service for
the purposes of, combating fire and providing fire
protection.
Second: That the permittee shall give twenty -
four hours notice of intention to excavate in any of
said public streets to the Street Superintendent of
the City of E1 Segundo, stating the location and

extent of the proposed excavation and the Installa-
tions to be made therein.
Third: That all work shall be properly and
adequately protected by barriers and lights during
the progress thereof, so as to protect persons and
property from injury so far as reasonably possible.
Fourth: That all work shall be performed with
due diligence, to the end that the public may be
inconvenienced as little as reasonably possible in
the use of such streets.
Fifth: That all street surfaces disturbed
must be replaced with surfacing of like type and
character as that disturbed, and to the satisfaction
of the Street Superintendent of the City of E1 Segundo,
and the permittee shall promptly report any damage to
any such street or streets which may be occasioned
thereto by reason of the exercise by permittee of
any of the rights or authority herein granted.
Sixth: That the authority and permission herein
granted and the consent herein given may be revoked at
any time by the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo
upon one years written notice to permittee and to said
Interstate Aircraft and Engineering Corporation.
SECTION 2. That this resolution shall take effect
immediately.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to
the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause the
same to be entered in the book of resolutions of said city
and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof
in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said
city in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed
and adopted.

I, Victor D. McCarthy, City Clerk of the City of
E1 Segundo, California, do hereby certify that the whole
number of members of the City Council of the said city is
five; that the foregoing resolution, being Resolution No. 681,
was duly passed and adopted by the said City Council, approved
and signed by the Mayor of said city, and attested by the City
Clerk of said city, all at a regular meeting of the said
Council held on the 15th day of September, A. D., 1943, and
that the same was so passed and adopted by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Hesser, Peterson, Selby, Skelley and
Mayor Love;
NOES: Councilmen None;
ABSENT: Councilmen None.
