A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING
RESOLUTION NO. 635, ENTITLED! "A RESOLUTION
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA, FIXING AND ESTABLISHING THE
COMPENSATION OR PAY OF VARIOUS MUNICIPAL
OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF SAID CITY, AND
REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS AND ORDERS AND
PARTS OF RESOLUTIONS AND ORDERS IN CONFLICT
THEREWITH. ", PASSED AND ADOPTED ON THE
23RD DAY OF DECEMBER, 1942, BY ADDING A
NEW SECTION THERETO TO BE KNOWN AND
DESIGNATED AS SECTION 5.1 RELATING TO
CERTAIN COMPENSATION PAYMENTS.
The City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, does resolve, declare and determine as follows:
SECTION 1. That a new section to be known and
designated as Section 5.1 shall be and the same is hereby
added to Resolution No. 635, entitled:
"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, FIXING AND
ESTABLISHING THE COMPENSATION OR PAY OF
VARIOUS MUNICIPAL OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES
OF SAID CITY, AND REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS
AND ORDERS AND PARTS OF RESOLUTIONS AND
ORDERS IN CONFLICT THEREWITH. ",
passed and adopted on the 23rd day of December, 1942, and
which said new Section 5.1 shall read as follows, to -wit:
"SECTION 5.1. That in addition to the salaries,
wages, compensations and benefits otherwise provided
for in this resolution, each regular officer or
employee of the City of El Segundo, as a part of his
or her compensation or remuneration from said City
for his or her services rendered or to be rendered,

shall be entitled to receive, and there shall be
Paid to him or her during periods of physical
disability by reason of illness or sickness, or
Injury or injuries, which are compensable under
the provisions of the Workmen's Compensation Laws
of the State of California, necessitating absence
from duty occurring or arising while he or she is
such an employee of said City, an amount each month
equal to the difference between the regular monthly
salary or compensation of such employee paid by said
City and the amount of any compensation received by
any such employee under the said Workmen's Compen-
sation Laws (exclusive of medical, surgical,
hospitalization, appliance or similar items of costs).
Payments of such difference under this section of
this resolution, however, shall not be made to cover
a longer period than six months for any one single
absence. In the event, however, an employee returns
to service for any period of time after any such
absence and again is required to be absent by reason
of any illness or injury which is compensable under
said Workmen's Compensation Laws, then and in that
event such employee shall nevertheless be entitled
to receive compensation under the provisions of
this section as in the first instance.
The words "regular officer or employee ", for
the purposes of this section, shall be construed to
mean those officers or employees who are regularly
employed in the service of said City.
The City Clerk in preparing demands for com-
pensation under the provisions of this Section 5.1,
may require the employee to submit to said City Clerk
satisfactory evidence indicating the amount of
Workmen's Compensation payments received by any
such employee (exclusive of medical, surgical,
hospitalization, appliance or similar items of
costs). 11
SECTION 2. That said Resolution No. 635 is
hereby amended as hereinabove in Section 1 of this
resolution set forth.
SECTION 3. That this resolution shall take
effect immediately.
SECTION 4. That the City Clerk shall certify
to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall
cause the original of the same to be entered in the book
of resolutions of the said City of El Segundo, and shall
make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the
records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City,
in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed
and adopted.

May, A. D., 1943.
